I wonder how many freepers, and for that matter, non-freepers and people in general, actually converse with Muslims, or illegals, or others they comment on.
I’ll readily admit that I have no where near the communication and understanding with Muslims that I have with illegal Mexicans.

In IL my main political activity was to knock door-to-door on every door in the precinct and did this is precincts in the inner city, the inner suburbs, working class and upper class suburbs, rural and downstate areas. Although the hundreds of Muslims whose doors I knocked on were no where close to the thousands of Hispanic. Black or white doors I knocked on, they were hundreds. I could immediately tell the difference between those from the moderate compromising Mosque in Schaumburg and the more theologically hardline Mosque in Glendale Hts. I was always a very interested eavesdropper on the intense debates between the Muslims from the different Mosques. Those Mosques (all Sunni) all had a variety of ethnic members and and were based on theology, not ethnicity.
I get the impression that most people do not talk to their Muslim co-workers. They do not talk to their Muslim neighbors. They do not knock on doors in strange precincts and talk politics.
It’s similar to those who don’t talk to Mexican immigrants (legal or illegal) and have no clue what they are like.
Maybe you should research into the Koran and Sharia and the Muslim concepts of jihad, taqiyya, and dhimmi.

Illegals, not hiding in the shadows as they stand around corners trolling for drugs/work, and in class (I teach college), they brag about being illegal and scamming the system by paying in-state tuition (on federal grants) and they testify in Congress, get a law license in CA. . .laughing at US citizens.
Muslimes, been all over the mid-east, been working with muslimes here in the states and like you, easily to spot the hard-line 25% the article refers to.
However, there are always those that will surprise you with a knife to the throat if given a chance. . .want to bet your life or the life of another that the one’s you think/feel are moderate are truly “moderate” and not turn on you.

Some towns are nearly taken over with muslims- dear leader has been quietly importing them for years now- settling them in towns all over the US- they get here, and then bring their very large families here as well- Some towns you can’t help but to converse with them-
I’m sure many people talked with the Tsarnev brothers- and no one suspected anything-
Like I said- muslism aren’t out front and vocal about their hatred for America- You may be able to tell ‘hard-liners’ from moderates, but you can not tell which moderates WILL answer the call when called upon
My points stand- Even so called moderates come fro ma country that hates us, that teaches nay brainwashes their citizens to think that everyone who isn’t muslim is fair game, and that lying to infidels is a religious duty-
While many may not be intimate friends with muslims, we do know enough about the Koran, about what we see on TV with all the attacks- with the ‘old ladies’ dancing In the streets after 9/11, etc etc etc to KNOW that they come from nations that preach hatred towards ‘infidels’, and we’ve seen enough of them go rogue over the years here in the US, and seen enough of them going suicide In their own countries to KNOW that these people are NOT hispanics - nor Africans nor any other nationality- they are a dangerous cult (although the case could be made for some nations where member groups also attack their countrymen, but as a whole, their nations is NOT teaching hatred like they do in isamic worlds

bob- let me try to illustrate my points in a clumsy analogy- I haven’t thought it through completely, but I think it illustrates why we do not even care to ‘get to know’ those who are sworn to kill us, hate us, etc, and will show why even moderates can’t be fully trusted, or even mostly trusted
Suppose you are a CHristian family and you live next door to a radical Satanic cult that you know are known for human sacrifices of Christian children, lying, raping stealing etc- and you know this cult preaches that it’s ok to say whatever they need to say in order to get what they want
Now, suppose the parents in that house hate your guts. Suppose they scream at you every chance they can because they know you are Christians, and their religion teaches them to hate Christians- Suppose overtime you try to speak to them or be kind to them their faces go red with anger and hatred.- They tell you they are going to kill you some day (let’s just assume the police won’t get involved as well when you report their threats)-
Now let’s suppose that they have a son or daughter. This daughter appears ‘moderate’ but tells you when you speak to her she tells you she is a Satanist but that she ‘doesn’t believe everything she’s taught’
Suppose now that the girl moves down the street to another house on your block, and is at least on speaking terms with you- She seems nice, and always goes out of her way to be helpful
I suppose some would be inclined to believe she is ‘moderate’ and but remember, their religion teaches that it’s ok to lie, to deceive-
Knowing the Satanist’s propensity towards sacrifice and hatred toward CHristians, and knowing that children are disappearing all over the neighborhood- would you take your child to the daughter’s house on all hallow’s eve and say “Here, watch my children while my wife and I go away for the weekend”?
EVEN IF the girl would never sacrifice a child, she belongs to a death cult who would, and she very well could obey her religious requirement and hand the children over to those who would- She may very well aid and abet those who would, and smile and pretend to know nothing about it when you got back

Suppose you whole block is filled with Satanist’s from this radical Satanic group- Some families will of course appear nice, others not so much- some will hide their hatred for you better than others-
Now suppose most of those on your block tell you over and over and over again they are going to kill you because you are Christians
Do you still say “Oh, they’re really ok people- they don’t mean what they say, and I’m sure the ‘moderates ones’ certainly don’t believe it’s ok to kill” and “They’ve been saying they are going to kill me for many years- they haven’t yet, so that proves they don’t really mean it”
Do we risk our family’s lives like this just for the sake of not wanting to look unsympathetic?
Again- we MUST remember that we’re talking about a very unique culture In the middle east- they don’t just simply hate Americans’ they PREACH that destroying us is a duty- an honor- and they preach that lying to us is a duty as well
Sorry, but I don’t want to get to know every muslim before I make up my mind that there’s a good possibility they might actually mean what they say and believe what they are taught
