Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam all ought to start building their own islands, all around China’s.
Hell, we ought to build one too.
Use the same logic China does.
“Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam all ought to start building their own islands, all around Chinaâs.”
They already are. The Filipinos beached a former American LST on an island beach with supplies to support a small Marine detachment. Chinese patrol boats blockaded the island to keep the Filipinos from being reinforced and resupplied. The Filipinos have been air dropping supplies, but they have to get by the Chinese air patrols and risk potential Chinese air defenses on the patrol boats.
While the Filipinos were helping South Vietnam in the Vietnamese war, the South Vietnamese arranged for a Filipino commander’s birthday party on one of the islands to be entertained by a bunch of party girls. The Filipino garrison on the neighboring island took their boat over to their commander’s island and birthday party. When they returned after the party, they found the South Vietnamese soldiers had moved not their island,, taken down the Filipino flag, raised the South Vietnamese flag, and would not allow the Filipino garrison to return to the island. After the fall of South Vietnam, the government in Hanoi reinforced the island and others with their troops and patrol boats.
Vietnam has had armed conflicts with the Chinese forces over the islands. T
The ROC (Republic of China) has occupied some with military and naval forces, while agreeing with the PRC (People’s Republic of China) in claiming all of the South China Sea for China, ROC or PRC.
In other words, it is a real mess with all of the conflicting claims with the occupied islands being well inter-mixed with little correspondence with proximity to their mainlands.
