Donald Trumps latest media and political firestorm stems from ambiguous answers to a reporter's question: Whether he would support making Muslims register in a national database.
But his comments are not quite as cut-and-dried as the headlines would make them seem.
The headlines started after Yahoo News published an article Thursday based on an interview with the Republican presidential candidate. The reporter apparently asked Trump whether new security measures might involve a database to register Muslims in the U.S.
When he replied, âWeâre going to have to â weâre going to have to look at a lot of things very closelyâ including mosques, Yahoo News reported that Trump did not ârule [the database] out.â
He was then asked by CNN whether he would rule out such a database, to which Trump said he ânever responded to that questionâ during the Yahoo News interview.
But a separate exchange with NBC News muddied the picture of his position further.
The reporter initially asked Trump whether there should be a database to track Muslims.
âWe should have a lot of systems,â Trump responded, but then went on to tout the importance of a strong border and a border wall. Asked whether he would like to implement that, Trump responded:
âI would certainly implement that. Absolutely.â
That single line was swiftly interpreted in several news stories as Trumpâs endorsement of a database for Muslims, in turn prompting a widespread backlash. Some stories even stated that Trump had proposed a âplanâ to register Muslims in a database.
However, in the NBC News exchange, Trump appeared to be referring in that single line to border and immigration security measures, because he then said the effect would be, âIt would stop people from coming in illegally.â

Looks like someone at FOX is listening to Rush.
The MSM/Democrats determine what words to put in the mouths of their opponents so they can run against the opponent they want.
This should add at least 5 more points to his lead...
I’ll give credit where it’s due, Fox at least stepped out from the pack.
Thanks for posting this reality!
More for the Trump haters to read on this non issue:
Take a couple of minutes to read what was said and really happened not the mediots bs:
No, Donald Trump Doesn’t Want to Register All American Muslims. It’s Just Another Media Smear.

Finally a little push back for the truth.
Another game of gotcha by the media. It should drive his poll numbers up again.
Thanks to Rush setting them straight. It will do no good with mainstream media but at least “the truth will out”.
Don’t we already have one? The terrorist watchlist?
The simple truth is that all of Islam is at war with us and our ruling class refuses to believe it. Islam is an ideological movement with world conquest as it’s goal. All muslims are brainwashed from birth to hate Jews and Christians and to commit jihad (holy war) against the western world. They will have peace only after all other nations have been conquered and forced to submit to Islam.
That’s why I posted it....
Probably. I, for one, can't wait until I can actually cast a ballot for the man.
Here’s the spliced-together, 2 different newser/audio clips:

Idiot reporter who thought he had him in a big gotcha.
Trump was talking about the wall and legal entry to the USA,
Not registering Muslims, but registering legal immigrants as they came through the wall legally.
Idiot reporters think they have him with their fqntasy.
Thanks for doing so!
I hope Rush focuses on it later in the show. He’s done for now.
It’s definitely a tag team hit job.
This was an orchestrated SMEAR—coordinated by the media, RATS, and GOPe. The hits were simultaneous and IMMEDIATE. Trump is fighting the evil of the world. God bless hom.
