Trump: 'Absolutely no choice' but to close mosques
The Hill ^ | 11/18/15 | Bradford Richardson

GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump says the United States has "absolutely no choice" but to close down mosques where "some bad things are happening."

"Nobody wants to say this and nobody wants to shut down religious institutions or anything, but you know, you understand it," Trump said on Fox News's "Hannity" on Tuesday. "A lot of people understand it. We're going to have no choice."

Trump said on Monday he would "strongly consider" closing mosques if elected in response to the terrorist attacks in France last Friday that killed at least 129 people and injured hundreds more.

Pressed to explain his tougher stance on the issue, the GOP primary front-runner told Fox News's Sean Hannity that the security situation was changing "a lot faster than anybody understands."

"There's absolutely no choice," Trump insisted. "Some really bad things are happening and they're happening fast. Certainly a lot faster than our president understands because he doesn't understand anything."

Trump also highlighted his concerns with accepting Syrian refugees, saying he has "a feeling that a lot of bad things will happen."

"But yet we take everybody," he said. "We don't know where they come from, we don't know what their crime record is. It could be wonderful. It could be a disaster."

The businessman said if he wins the presidency, "they're going out."

"We can't take a chance. You know, if you take thousands of people, and again I hear it's going to be many more than what you're talking about right now. But if you take thousands of people, Sean, all you need is a couple. You know, you don't need 25, you don't need 100," he said. "Look at all the damage done in Paris with just a few people."

Miltie,

I’ve posted this idea before and think it is worthy of advancing.

While I am not a lawyer, I do believe that there are laws on the books in the US that outlaw cults.

Islam is a cult.

“[N]obody wants to shut down religious institutions or anything”

Nor does the First Amendment allow you to do so.

There is absolutely no one better on national security than Trump. Hillary, Sanders, Bush, Carson, Rubio, et al, are all hellbent on leaving our borders unsecure and wide open to all. Trump wants to slam it shut!

It’s an open and shut case. A no brainer.

The Trump Doctrine is THE leader on national security, border security and against the biggest enemy and threat of our time and the scourge of the world: Islamic conquest via infiltration, immigration, cultural invasion, hostile takeover and terror attack!

“Why not keep them open and spy on them aggressively?”

yeah, that’s the better plan. At least that way you know where to look. Issue a public EO prohibiting spying on religious institutions and then issue a classified EO countermanding that one and giving the go-ahead.

It’ll be damn hard, impossible actually, to get the Courts to allow Islam to be reclassified as a cult.

Here’s the problem with Trump’s proposal: it’ll set precedent that will eventually be used on Christian churches.

We live in a world where the term “violence” is being expanded to include speech and expression and not just physical acts. Remember those churches in Houston that were subjected to abuses of governmental power because they opposed the mayor’s gay rights agenda?

This sort of thing gets done against mosques and there’s no way that the Left doesn’t seize it and use it, gleefully use it, as a tool to shut down churches that stand in opposition to them.

Ok... not to quibble but mosques are not religious institutions since islam is not a religion. It is a cult with rape, torture and murder as its raison d'etre.

But we do shutdown terrorist and subversive organizations. What is Islam? What is its 1400 year history? Hatred, torture, murder, beheadings, rape, kidnappings, suicide bombing, mass shootings, mass murder, terror, terrorism, infiltration, invasion, hostile takeover, conquest, domination.

Blood flows where Islam goes.

Why not keep them open and spy on them aggressively?

Because on another thread today,,,..a former FBI guy said it costs $600,000 a year for 24/7 surveillance on a single individual.

I can see the legality of refusing or returning "refugees".

But when it comes to closing Mosques, I cannot see a way around the First Amendment.

I am very, very cautious of closing a religious place of worship as I am fearful of what the likes of Obama and his henchman would do with that precedence

But for the fact that places that train and encourage mass murder aren’t religious institutions any more.

As I mentioned upthread, there’s already precedent if they wanted to. And places that train for and agitate for mass murder are no longer places of worship and are therefore fair game.

I can.

It’s not even a way ‘around’ the First Amendment, because free exercise of religion does not and never has included incitement to mass murder.

Trump has a case. Islam has gone over to the dark side - they are a danger to us. One of their key teachings is that Muslims have a duty to wage Holy War.

Other religious groups have been banned or dealt with harshly. There was a sect many years ago in Philadelphia - forgot their name - who were actually bombed by the police. In some states snake handling religion is forbidden even though they pose no threat to us.
