My son lived and worked in The Netherlands for a few years (2002-2004). There were a lot of ME immigrants at that time.
He encountered them as street vendors, waiters, etc. It was a pleasant time for him. All was cordial and friendly.
Things have changed, especially since the murder of Theodore VanGogh. With many more immigrants the mood is much darker and life feels more dangerous to those living there now.
The first influx of Muslims came from Indonesia, where Dutch colonists ruled. The hoard of Muslims emigrated from Africa due to a string of leftists governing the Netherlands.
