The neighbour of Salah Abdeslam who is on the run as Europe's most wanted man has described him as a 'really nice guy'.

Sheraz Sheik said he was shocked when he heard Salah and his brother Brahim's names in the news following the terror attacks in Paris on Friday night.

Brahim, or Ibrahim, Abdeslam, the elder brother, blew himself up outside a cafe in Boulevard Voltaire. No one else at that location was injured.

Salah Abdeslam is believed to have escaped after the attacks is wanted by police . He was last seen crossing the France - Belgium border early on Saturday.

Investigators knew he had rented a black Volkswagen Polo used by the gunmen who slaughtered least 89 rock fans at Bataclan, but had failed to alert border patrols.

[...]

The brothers' mother defended her terrorist son Brahim, saying he "did not mean to kill anyone" and another family member put it down to "stress".

Their mum, who has not been named, claimed Ibrahim's suicide vest may have gone off by accident and said he "had not planned to kill anyone".

"This was not his plan, that's for sure," she told Het Laatste Nieuws. "The fact that his suicide belt exploded without killing anyone says a lot.

Oh, I’m sure mass murderers like Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot had their pleasant moments.

We saw Downfall when my son was about 16. An accounting of Hitler’s time in the bunker, written by one of his personal secretaries. My son asked ‘why is she so sympathetic to Hitler?’. I told him that all she saw was the nice boss, she wasn’t aware of the rest of the story. I’m sure that most mass murderers have moments when they are compassionate. Those moments could never make up for the evil they do.

Of course he was perceived as a “really nice guy.” That’s always the case with terrorists living among us. If you think about, it makes sense. When these people are sent into an area as part of a sleeper cell and told to await further orders, their handlers undoubtedly told them the following: Until we give you the word to carry out your mission, keep a low profile. Be nice to everyone. Don’t get into confrontations with anyone. Don’t do anything that would draw the attention of the police, or cause anyone to suspect the real reason why you’re there. Consequently, until something happens, everyone sees them as “nice guys.”

So, it is impossible to screen “refugees”. They may well seem like charming dudes.

Fang said that when he was stationed in Turkey while he was
in the Air Force (years ago) that they were cautioned to
not wave at anyone with their left hand . . because that
was what Muslims wiped their butts with . . uh, used for
toilet paper. Don’t know if it’s still like that. Maybe it
hasn’t changed in almost 50 years. Progress for ya’.
