Two Days After Paris Attack Obama Administration Transfers Five GITMO Detainees To The UAE
Townhall ^ | Nov 16, 2015 | Katie Pavlich

Two weeks ago, White House National Security adviser Susan Rice said during an interview that officials in the Obama administration would "die trying" to close Guantanamo Bay prison, something President Obama promised to do during his 2008 presidential campaign.

Last summer we saw the exchange of Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl (someone Rice said served with "honor and distinction") for five top Taliban commanders. Now, just two days after ISIS carried out the worst terror attack in France since World War II, the Obama administration has transferred five more detainees to the United Arab Emirates.

Uhhhhhh.....question to all hands:

Do you not know that it is US government policy to transfer as many detainees as possible to their native country, or to a country that will accept them? Barky signed an Executive Order in 2009, and it seems people have not received the memo. There is even a special envoy appointed by the president to oversee this.

I'm just asking because this issue seems to come as a surprise to most. As far as timing, this took months to coordinate; it didn't happen over night. There is no conspiracy here, it's a machine that is running.

Sure-get groups of them in line for release then release the ones you need to enter the fight where and when they’re most needed. It’s just like-sending reinforcements. Which is what he just did.

Actually, that is not how the system works, but you are free to bark at inanimate objects all you want.

Sure, I think we’ve heard that before from bam bam.

The Obama administration has been releasing terrorists since they came into office. As you said, in 2009 an executive order began the program. Five were released in the Bergdahl exchange.

These terrorists were often captured at great expense and risk of US lives. They are all violent terrorists and all are dedicated to murdering in the name of Islam.

Just because this has been part of the Obama administration policy since 2009 does not make it right or reduce the damage these terrorists can do when they are released.

People need to be made aware that this is going on. It is not being reported in the MSM.

You are free to contact your representative, and they will tell you the process. You can even get specific with them and ask how long it took for each of the five detainees.

Or, you can do your own FOIA request, and the govt will put it in writing.

I'm telling you as a friend and FReeper, there is nothing to see here. Townhall is trying to make something out of nothing.

FReepers often don't research, and bark at every moving object like a chihuahua. We have bigger fish to fry.

Are you seriously proposing we need to rely on the MSM to report on items of interest to Americans?

Do a FOIA request and report it yourself. Your elected representatives know this stuff. Ask them.

“Are you seriously proposing we need to rely on the MSM to report on items of interest to Americans?”

No.

I was explaining that people needed to be made aware of this and the MSM is not doing it.

Some of us have jobs and families and don’t have unlimited time and resources to research these issues independently.
