Usually marketing consultants are pretty good at, uh, marketing themselves.
They do however seem to have plenty of money, public data for their 401K plan shows significant income and assets.
I wonder how much of that money comes from working for Moms Demand Action?
OUR SHARED PRINCIPLES
Unitarian Universalists do not have a set creed. We do share a covenant, an agreement about how we will walk in the world as a people of faith. Together, we commit to affirm and promote:
â¢Respect for the inherent worth and dignity of all people
â¢Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations
â¢Acceptance of one another and encouragement to growth in our congregations
â¢A free and responsible search for truth and meaning
â¢The right of conscience and the use of democratic process within our congregations and society at large
â¢The goal of world community, with peace, liberty, and justice for all
â¢Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part

AT SOUTH CHURCH:
â¢We cultivate attentive listening, speaking with care and compassionate honesty.
â¢We engage one another thoughtfully, recognizing that different thoughts and opinions are intrinsic to human beings.
â¢We are responsible for ourselves and speak from our own experience. We do not rely on second-hand information.
â¢We trust in one anotherâs good intentions and that our actions have an impact, regardless of intentions.
â¢When we hurt one another or are hurt by another, we communicate our discomfort directly.
â¢We resolve conflicts through compromise and collaboration and, when necessary, request mediation through committee chairs, group facilitators, our ministers or others.
Through these actions, we build trust and create a loving and safe community.
Sure!
I bet they have Muzzies camping out in there!
Our community includes about 430 adult members and 200 children and youth.
Meet The Ministers
The Revs. Lauren Smith and Chris Holton Jablonski consider it a joy and a privilege to serve South Church as its two settled ministers. Our congregation called Lauren and Chris to serve our community in April, 2011. Their ministry has been a wonderful fit with our independent, engaged and dynamic congregation.
Lauren and Chris are a married couple, with three young children.
Chris was born in New England, the son of a Unitarian Universalist minister and an active lay leader. He studied religion at Boston University, and went to seminary at Starr King School for the Ministry (www.sksm.edu) in Berkeley, California. Chris is a gifted minister and a dynamic storyteller. He enjoys leading worship, helping to make connections between members, and our annual social justice service trips for adults and youth. He also loves fishing, his family and the Patriots.
Lauren grew up in Northern California, but has strong ties to New England and Unitarian Universalism that extend back many generations. Her family first settled in Massachusetts before the end of the Civil War. Her forbears were free African-American people living in North Carolina in the 1850âs, but the family made the dangerous journey north to find a better life. Lauren cherishes the message of liberation and wholeness at the heart of the Unitarian Universalist religious tradition. She enjoys preaching, meditation, working with lay leaders, and social witness. In addition to being a Unitarian Universalist minister, Lauren is also a student of Zen Buddhism in the Kwan Um School (www.kwanumzen.org). Lauren studied theater arts as an undergraduate at the University of California at Santa Cruz, and attended seminary at Starr King School for the Ministry. She loves live music, reading, and all kinds of dancing.
Q: What do you get when you cross an Unitarian Universalist with a Jehovah’s Witness?
A: Somebody who knocks on doors for no apparent reason.
MADD pushed for the 21 year old universal drinking age to eliminate "blood borders".
Then they pushed to lower the BAC for being legally intoxicated to .08%
Then, as they were starting the new putsch to lower that to .06%, IIRC, one of the founders resigned. She decided they had done what they came to do, namely increase awareness and ramp up enforcement.
But the organization did not go away, after all. There are people making a living off of this, and they aren't about to quit.
I wonder if 'Jerry's Kids' (Muscular Dystrophy Association) know someone is making off with their acronym. Millions of bikers have been on rides to raise money for that MDA. I really doubt that sort of turnout would happen for Mothers Demand Action.
I’m supporting DAMM. Drunks Against Mad Muthas.
The first I heard of that organization was from a patron at a biker bar in the 1980s. Glad it is still around! Someone has to apply brakes to all that dogoodery or we will be overrun by the tyranny of good intentions.
LOL! Good intentions and unexpected consequences never go unpunished.
Background checks need to be done for all gun sales and 90 percent of gun owners would agree.âShe said the only people who should be prohibited to purchase a gun after a background check would be a convicted felon, someone who has committed domestic violence crimes and those hospitalized involuntarily for mental health concerns.
That's already the Federal law, applicable in all 50 states. Either she's poorly informed, they really should look for an informed spokesman, or what she's talking about is the straw man gun show loophole. In which case she should say so, so mom's understand dad can only give his son a firearm after a background check. That is a state issue, I've no problem with state regulation, and most states haven't because few criminals acquire firearms at gun shows. A little honesty would go a long way.
And they have several. Wattsamatta witcha?
Which tells you it's not about the laws.
It's about people. My ex and his family were rednecks with guns out the wazoo and never shot anyone. It's about self control.
LOL! You say redneck like it’s a bad thing.
How about “Moms for Keeping Mentally Ill Nutjobs in Prison or Hospitals”?
Nope, just calling it like they are. There are both good and bad sides to it. :)
Confucius say;
is man who covers own six
Looks like the moms are planning to have another public meeting at the Plaistow Public Library, tonight Nov. 17 at 7:00PM. Sponsored of course by the Plaistow Democratic committee.
Expecting honesty from that crew is like expecting Hillary Clinton to tell the truth. They are mostly professional marketing and sales types trying to spin out a message which fools uninformed people.
