Influential Iowa Rep. Steve King has officially endorsed Ted Cruz for president, giving the GOP Texas senator a boost ahead of Februaryâs Iowa caucuses.
âCruz has a proven record of standing up to both Democrats and Republicans to put the American people first, and I believe he is the only one who can unite conservatives around his campaign and build the organization needed to beat Hillary Clinton,â King said in a statement put out by the Cruz campaign.
âWith Ted Cruz, conservatives no longer have to accept a Republican nominee who doesnât truly share our values.â
King is a key figure in Iowa conservative circles, hosting the annual âRally for Religious Libertyâ in Des Moines that serves as a cattle call for presidential hopefuls. The endorsement isnât entirely surprising considering Kingâs family ties â his son works for a super-PAC that backs Cruz.
King is also known for a hardline stance on immigration and drew criticism in 2013 for saying that many immigrants have "calves the size of cantaloupes because theyâre hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert.â
The longtime Iowa congressman specifically praised Cruz's foreign policy chops as candidates continue to lay out their foreign policy platforms in light of last week's terror attacks in France.
"He understands that we need to defeat Islamic jihad, the ideology of it, not just militarily, but the culture of it," King said in a video released by the campaign.
"I'm all the way in supporting Ted Cruz for president." Cruz's stock in Iowa has improved over the past few months and he currently sits at fourth place, just behind Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) with 12 percent, according to a RealClearPolitics average

Trump supporters will accuse anyone who isn’t a 100% conservative on every single issue of being a RINO.
However, Trump’s inconsistencies are hushed up. Imminent Domain is okay. Single-payer doesn’t matter.

Trump supporters are WAY PAST those straw man issues. Trump speaks to the issues like illegals, PC, media bias, bought and paid for corruption, islam terror, gun rights, etc.
Sorry you don't get it.

I don’t think patriots support Hillary and tout Obama’s leadership qualities.

That's what it all comes down to. I think Trump loves his country every bit as much as Cruz (or any other "candidate") but he can win. Period.

Single-payer, A.K.A. Socialized Medicine IS NOT a Straw-Man Issue.
Nice-try Trump-bot!

Here ya go, maroon:
Donald Trump on Health Care
Increase insurance competition across state lines Even if we elect a real president who will get tough and repeal Obamacare, we still need a plan to bring down health-care costs and make health-care insurance more affordable for everyone. It starts with increasing competition between insurance companies. Competition makes everything better and more affordable.
One way to infuse more competition into the market is to let citizens purchase health-care plans across state lines.
This could be easily accomplished if Congress got some guts and did the right thing.
