I was detailed to DC shortly after 9/11. A “moderate” muslim imam in the area organized a pro-America demonstration in Lafayette Square, right across the street from the White House. Despite the fact that there are well over 100,000 muslims in the DC Metro area, we counted less than 50 people at the demonstration, some of whom were clearly there just to see what might happen. A considerable outpouring of condemnation and indignation at the smearing of the religion of peace, no?
