A $3,000 annual deductible doesn’t seem unreasonable to me — especially for someone who is 60 years old and appears to require ongoing medical attention.
This article is 3 years late and a thousand dollars short.
That’s exactly why single payer is going to win next year in Colorado.
Its private insurance industry opponents say their plans are great - but no one can actually afford them.
That’s going to be the issue - why have overpriced plans with crappy coverage and high deductibles?
If they want to defend what they call Obamacare, let them since they don’t really offer free market health care.
Its more like a rigged cartel.
I think our deductible is something like $6k. I think it was about $5k years ago before obamacare got on the radar. I was fine with that - and that’s what I wanted. Of course the premium for a family of five was $310 a month. Now it is $1,260 a month! FUBO.
Wow. If ever economic warfare was waged on the populace at large.. This is what it would look like ..
This has been my complaint about Obama’s Death Care from the beginning. What good is insurance that doesn’t cover anything? It’s essentially catastrophic coverage only.
We went to a HDHP plan with my employer where they put $1,200 a year into an MSA for us, and we don’t have to pay any additional premium out of our pocket. We thought “This is great!”, but soon found out I had to add almost as much as my previous premium was to the MSA just to cover the higher-co-pays, office visits, and deductibles inherent in the new plan. We have a $5,000 deductible, and the only way we’ll reach that this year is if one of us gets real sick. Thanks, 0bama.
The deductible might be reasonable, but coming up with 3k plus the monthly premiums for someone requiring on-going medical attention seems like a tuff row to hoe.
and it seems really whacky for some one with reasonable ordinary (wellness care - physical\chest xray\lab) medical expenses. Might as well not have insurance, since you’re paying the whole nut anyway.
Most of the people I know have deductibles of about $14,000 which pretty much makes it a catastrophic medical plan. Do I think this is by design. Hell yes. The whole thing is a scam to suck more out of the taxpayer’s pockets by force while paying out the least amount possible.
Our deductible for 2 people is $8K. Thanks Zer0 and Pel0si.
I have the bronze plan, the cheapest, and the deductible is $6,500.
Auto-insurance liability insurance mandates do NOT allow deductibles for obvious reasons.
BOHICA
$3000 annual deductible isn’t unreasonable for catastrophic coverage.
Apparently people think preventable doctor visits should be free, and doctors should perform work without getting paid.
Why do people think single payer is inevitable? We can go back to market based fee structures instead of relying on health pools for pretty much everything non-catastrophic.
My brother and wife got caught up in that. They both have pre-existing conditions, so their premium was $1500/mo.
Along with $6500 x 2 deductible, and both of them incurring large bills, they had to come up with another $13k in on top of the $18k for premiums.
If they weren’t able to refinance their house, they’d have been SOL.
Of course, it’s a scam, but the American people lack the vision to understand that.
Well, yes, quite a few do think that!
The GOP isn’t pushing for free market health care so that’s why we’ll wind up with single payer.
Anything is better than Obamacare.
People in CO are always looking for a quick fix to everything.
I’m thankful for Christian healthcare co-ops!
> If they werenât able to refinance their house, theyâd have been SOL.
The Ponzi scheme only works if there are enough participants. We need to get this Obamination repealed or at least kill the penalties somthe whole system will implode. When you have to threaten people with penalties for a system that is clearly set up as a scam you’re dealing with a federal mafia not a representative government.
