Other than Venezuela, what countries are experiencing great violence?? Enough that Hispanic families (usually very close and protective of one another) would send a child off??

Just FYI, Guatemala is, and has been for some time, home to several ridiculously violent factions.
Honduras, as I write this, is the per capita murder capital of the entire world. There is no close second.

In 2014 Obama held meetings with the presidents of Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras to discuss the migrant problem. I believe these meetings were about the coordination and timing of the migrant influx including children. The “children”—many of whom were tattooed gang-bangers—would be harder to deport based on humanitarian grounds. Once settled in the U.S. the children would become anchors justifying the immigration of their “parents” and other family members.
