All true. Trump could fix illegal immigration while backing drug legalization, a position he’s had in the past. Would he be Conservative then?
That’s all I’m saying here. Conservatism has a definition. Trump has his own beliefs. They coincide on many things - many IMPORTANT things- but not on everything. Expecting him to be a rock-solid conservative is setting yourself up for disappointment.
I think he’s a guy whose every decision will flow from the fact that he LOVES his country. When he makes decisions they will not be on the orders from people who donate to him or from the line of thinking that we need to be fundamentally transformed. His decision making process will stem from love of country. With few exceptions, the rest of the candidates running cannot say the same.
That’s why I am supporting him.
I’d like to add this to your excellent piece.
It’s something I wrote a while back and post from time to time.

As someone about Trumps age, I find it easy to believe his explanation as to why he’s running.
I’ve agonized over the America we are leaving for my own children and grandchildren to live in and raise their families in. Most Freepers here probably feel the same way.
America hardly resembles the one I grew up in. It’s but a shadow of its former self, with freedoms, successes, and with respect from our friends, and fear of us by our enemies, all but non-existent.
Trump said he was running so that his family wouldn’t look at him, knowing he could have fixed it, but didn’t.
His own story of building the Trump Organization shows that he knows how to build great empires. Now he wants to make all of America great again.
I think we are but the lucky side beneficiaries.
I will probably be slammed for this but I don’t know that a “rock solid” conservative is what we need at this juncture.
We need someone, who as you say, loves this country and puts it and it’s citizens first.
We need someone who believes in law and order and is willing to hold law breakers accountable.
We need someone who has no time for political correctness.
We need someone who will protect the rights of Christians, no matter his personal beliefs.
We need someone who will go over the heads of the political class in Washington and communicate with the people.
We need someone who is a pragmatist rather than an ideologue.
People of the country, whether democrat voter or republican voter, are tired of the divisiveness and tired of giving our money and our country away.
We need someone who can turn what is upside down; right- side up again.
When that is done, there will be time and momentum for educating the public on true conservatism.
I strongly believe that if we can get Trump the nomination the general will be a landslide of epic proportions.
