As many of you know, many months ago I sensed that Donald Trump might be a political force, and I began working on a book about the campaign, mostly focused on Trump. If indeed he continues to lead and wins the nomination (let alone the election), I'll be ready to go to a publisher.
The point is, I try to follow Trump-related stuff closely, both pro- and anti-. Last night I sensed a new strategy in dealing with Trump: Ignore him. Now, it's true that he got a lot of air time. By one account he still barely led Rubio, Cruz, and Kasich. But judging by Freeper comments there was a level of surprise that they seemed to be freezing him out as much as they did Cruz in the first debate.
I thought little of this until watching "The Five" tonight. Admittedly, except for (sometimes) Eric Bolling, "The Five" are notorious Trump haters. Dana Perrino and Greg Guttfeld especially are obvious in their hostility. Often (unfortunately) Juan Williams is one of the few actually pointing out what is happening in Trump's rallies and his continued lead in the polls.
So, I expected more vitriol tonight, except . . . . nothing. I tuned in about 10 minutes into the show. Perhaps all they did prior to that time was talk Trump, but from that point on, they didn't even mention his name. I don't think it came up, even in passing or by comparison, once. According to "The Five," Jindal was good, Christie was "presidential," Bush was good, Rubio was great, Paul made good points, even Carson was good. . . . but not a word about Trump.
We'll see if this continues, or, perhaps, if it's only on Fox. But I sense the new strategy at least on Fox is to pretend The Donald is the invisible man.
Fox ... yes I still watch them ... seems to be pushing a battle between Rubio and Cruz.
They were all over this today. It was an interesting battle except for one thing ... they totally ignored the two front runners as though they did not exist.
That is just crazy. I’m a Cruz supporter but I like Donald and he’s been the front runner from the first day and has never dropped out of that spot except for brief runs by Carson, who is pretty well gone, I think.
You simply cannot airbrush Donald Trump out of the political landscape, but I guess you can try.
I agree...I think Hillary versus Rubio would be like Nurse Ratchett versus Billy.
” I’m sick of this ‘well, we can’t do this, until we do that’ BS. We’ve been told that since Kay Bailey Hutchison first got elected, or before.”
Which is pretty much your guarantee, that the people you heard it from (KBH — snort!) are’t the ones who thought it up. “Kay, tell them *this*....” So who ARE these people? Has anyone heard a single name of one of these Puppetmasters, these so-called “six families”? [/off David Mamet]
Who’s your boss, Marco? Yeb? Kasich? What, et tu, Ted? “Morituri vos salutamus”?
Hah! Never heard of these ladies before. Who are they in real life?
I am definitely a fan of their terrific humor and "call and repeat" way of presenting!
Thanks. I will definitely check on these gals.
I think you're right; she has the exact same personality as Louise Fletcher's character (Miss Fletcher won an Oscar for that portrayal, I seem to recall).
I don't think many men are equipped to plumb the depths of Hildebeast's evil.
