I don’t get mad, I get sad. If the free market is any thermostat for the general public’s views of Christmas, they might as well say something like “snowy santa day!” or some other pagan greeting. Christians need to boycott santa, the bunny, and especially holloween.

JOY TO THE WORLD!

[He’ll rule] the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love

I completely disagree.

On Halloween, for example, that is “All Hallows Eve”, a Christian holiday, not a pagan one. And if we celebrate it at the same time as Samhain? So what? We took a pagan festival and removed it’s power. Why on earth would we give it power again by turning it back over to the pagans?

Santa Claus is a powerful image of Christianity. A real saint who worked among the oppressed poor and outcasts in Myra. A defender of Christianity against Arianism. If we taught more about Saint Nicholas, we would have a stronger church. If we have lost the religious connotations of Christmas, then perhaps we should resurrect the idea of Twelth Night for gift giving and celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday without gifts in our own homes.

Christians do not need to disengage with the world. Christians need to educate themselves, grow up in a spiritual manner (stop just drinking milk and eat some spiritual meat), and show the people of this world that life in Christ is full and robust. It means we have the strength to engage people and not to boycott them.
