But I do want to defend the CONCEPT of time travel (even though I don’t actually think it is possible or ever will be, elsewise, why aren’t we surrounded by visitors from the future, but nevermind that one for now, please).
But just from the point of view of pure science fiction, and pure thought experiment, if I have a time machine that can take me back to any specific point in the past that I decide I want to go to, how can I NOT go back to the exact time of Hitler’s birth, how can I NOT go to the exact place of his birth, and how can I NOT know that this infant that I find there is the exact same person who goes on in later years to murder 6 million Jews and start a war that ends up killing nearly 100 million?
I don’t understand what the difficulty here would be. Seriously.
