The gilgul concept is not literal, but more as you indicated, a [continued] mission.
Lots of stuff out there like David (and the Messiah) being the gilgul of Adam, Moses as the gilgul of Abel, and so forth.

How does that differ from the Mooslimes believing we all have to be converted to their religion?
Is Bachmann advocating slaughtering anyone who doesn't convert? No? Then there's your answer.
It's pretty much the same thing from where I sit.
Then you need to sit somewhere else.
What if I'm perfectly happy with my religion and don't see anything whatsoever attractive about other religions that I'd want to drop mine and adopt theirs?
Then do just that.
