Kentucky Gov.-elect Matt Bevin said in an appearance on The Glenn Beck Radio Program Friday that he will push back against the Environmental Protection Agencyâs efforts to regulate the coal industry, telling the EPA to âpound sand.â
Bevinâs comments came after Glenn Beck asked, âNow that youâre in, President Obama has said that heâs going to destroy the coal industry. Kentucky is a coal state. What are you going to be doing specifically to push back on that?â
In August, President Barack Obama unveiled his coal policy in partnership with the EPA, granting the agency authority over what is traditionally a state responsibility.
According to Sam Batkins, director of regulatory policy at American Action Forum, the policy will cost $2.5 trillion and 125,800 jobs, along with shuttering 66 power plants.
Bevin, a Tea Party favorite who became only the second Republican in four decades to win Kentuckyâs governorship Tuesday, vowed to stand against the EPA when it comes to protecting his stateâs large coal industry.
âWhy it is that we in Kentucky â that sit on two extraordinary basins, the Illinois basin and the Central basin, an abundance of this â how are we not participating in something that the world wants more of than they ever have?â Bevin asked. âAnd so, from my way of thinking, we will tell the EPA and other unelected officials who have no legal authority over us as a state, to pound sand.â
Bevin, a self-described âstaunch conservative,â told Beck he believes the 10th Amendment is âone of the most powerful toolsâ and that power not expressly given to the federal government is the responsibility of the states.

(sarcasm) marks are our friends.
Do you feel your votes to elect lesser evil has improved America in 8 years or has America seen a decline in 8 years.
There’s the only answer that matters.
If someone reads that and thinks it’s a non-sarcastic statement, then conservatism is in very serious trouble.
It sounds like Matt Bevin is going to be a force to reckon with. Go Matt!
He can tell them all he wants to, but he’ll have to bend over when the court tells him to.
The problem isn’t in Lexington, it’s in WASHINGTON.
“He can tell them all he wants to, but heâll have to bend over when the court tells him to.
The problem isnât in Lexington, itâs in WASHINGTON.”
I say no.
States have the authority reserved for them within the Constitution, if they are brave enough to execute.
YOu are giving way to much authority to Courts, as they do not have the abilities to force the states to do anything.
No, I don't "feel" my vote to attempt to elect the lesser evil has improved America. The best we can hope for is getting our desired candidates past the primaries. Beyond that, it's evil or lesser evil.
I do know that people that did not vote for the lesser evil in the general election allowed the greater evil to prevail. Congratulations.
You helping put evil in the GOP caused America to fail. Because YOU failed.
Facts are facts. Your boys sided with barry.
Actually, I voted Constitutional Party but I knew Texas would go for the GOPe candidate. If it were a toss up, I would have voted for the lesser evil over the greater evil because you can only have one or the other. I prefer lesser evil over greater evil, you seem to be OK allowing greater evil to prevail. Once you’re in the general election, all the ideology is out the window. You must either select a greater evil or lesser evil. Again, congratulations, you (0bama) won.
So a guy that by his own admission did not vote for lesser evil, is ragging on me for encouraging people to do what he did in not voting for lesser evil and support a conservative.
That guy then blames me for doing what he did as the cause of Obama.
I’ll just let the facts stand on their own because it is too stupid to address seriously.

“My point is that I would have voted for the lesser evil when only given the choice of greater or lesser evil”
And just exactly where has “lesser evil” gotten us?
Since Nov 2014, Obama has gotten 100% of everything he wanted.
100%
Do you have a 1,000 batting average since Nov 2014?
I do
Norm does.
Case closed.
100% thanks to McConnell, Boehner, the US Chambers of Crony Socialism, and the rest of the corrupt, spineless wimps of the GOP-E.
