Kentucky Gov.-elect Matt Bevin said in an appearance on The Glenn Beck Radio Program Friday that he will push back against the Environmental Protection Agencyâs efforts to regulate the coal industry, telling the EPA to âpound sand.â
Bevinâs comments came after Glenn Beck asked, âNow that youâre in, President Obama has said that heâs going to destroy the coal industry. Kentucky is a coal state. What are you going to be doing specifically to push back on that?â
In August, President Barack Obama unveiled his coal policy in partnership with the EPA, granting the agency authority over what is traditionally a state responsibility.
According to Sam Batkins, director of regulatory policy at American Action Forum, the policy will cost $2.5 trillion and 125,800 jobs, along with shuttering 66 power plants.
Bevin, a Tea Party favorite who became only the second Republican in four decades to win Kentuckyâs governorship Tuesday, vowed to stand against the EPA when it comes to protecting his stateâs large coal industry.
âWhy it is that we in Kentucky â that sit on two extraordinary basins, the Illinois basin and the Central basin, an abundance of this â how are we not participating in something that the world wants more of than they ever have?â Bevin asked. âAnd so, from my way of thinking, we will tell the EPA and other unelected officials who have no legal authority over us as a state, to pound sand.â
Bevin, a self-described âstaunch conservative,â told Beck he believes the 10th Amendment is âone of the most powerful toolsâ and that power not expressly given to the federal government is the responsibility of the states.

Bert is pissed because those of us who reject leftist republicans are growing expotentially. He never got over Romney leaving America at the altar and wants liberalism.
Obviously he keeps using FR to promote the idea of people accepting leftist Republicans every election.
And he dislikes me personally because I never let conservatives forget who our real enemy is.
This is pretty big talk to defy Federale nitwits. Lets hope he follows through. Mass mobilization would help such as coal miners flooding into Capitol Hill and into congressional offices to see their Kentucky representatives.

Whats unrelated? You are the guy that started ranting about me being wrong about you lesser evils. But yet I gave you examples of your lesser evils, and you who want them, screwing the planet up.
YOU did that. YOU helped put them in office. YOU.
He was elected to represent the citizens of his state, not lick the boots of some thug bureaucRAT.
In the last couple weeks you appear as if by magic on posts I mention lesser evil.
So are we to believe that you appearing on those posts and arguing with my position that lesser evil voting is our worst mistake means you don’t and did not support lesser evil candidates?
That you arguing against a position you agree with?
How exactly does that work?
Be as insulting as you like. I don’t consider the opinions of people that support lesser evils anyway.
What would John Kasich say?
I got a fevah, and the only prescription is more Kasich!
President Obama genuinely believes that global warming is caused by coal.
Some heads of state and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, believe that our President is mentally ill, especially given that more and more evidence is accumulating that we are on the cusp of a cooling period.
In addition, there is more and more evidence that the so called "experts" and their models predicting global warming are plain wrong.
Climate change is caused by the Sun.
I think you missed my point, so here it is as plain as I can make it. You are a hypocrite, you go around insulting anyone that ever voted for someone you did not pre-aprove of. Claiming they are the “lessor evil”. Then you push Cruz who is far from perfect. He did vote for TPA and the corker bill after all. Not to mention he wants to increase the number of foreigners coming in to replace American workers. I suggest to you that Cruz is a “lessor evil” by your own definition; and your intent to vote for him shows you to be a hypocrite. I hope that is clear enough for you.
"Yes, sir! Yes, sir! Three bags full!"
Actually as I said, I don’t consider the opinions of those that support lesser evil. So you wasted your time. But don’t blame me. I told you that in the first place.
Summer before last, when Bevin lost the primary to McConnell, I remember saying that if he could learn from his mistakes and win this election he’d make a much better governor than a Senator.
He hasn’t been sworn in yet, and I think he’s already proving me right.
Here’s hopin’ you’re right.
Hopefully he makes mitch’s life hell. All Bevin has to do is do his job as a good governor and mitch’s job will be impossible. Because Turtle’s job is now to back Obama. It’s not what his job should be. but it’s what he has turned it into.
At least the people of KY seemed to learn the result of lesser evil voting and are working to correct their mistake.
Nice to see support for the 10th Amendment on this thread, as well.
“In August, President Barack Obama unveiled his coal policy in partnership with the EPA, granting the agency authority over what is traditionally a state responsibility.”
If that indeed is what happened, I believe if I were in Congress I would demand on what law passed by Congress Obama can use to grant that responsibility to teh EPA.
Bet there is none..
Do you prefer that the lesser evil receive zero votes, thus allowing the greater evil to win the election?
Who was the zero evil candidate in this race that everyone should have voted for?
“Good job on defending the 10th Amendment and telling fedgov to pound sound!
Nice to see support for the 10th Amendment on this thread, as well. “
37 is the magic number. If 37 states stand together, they can accomplish anything. Disband Congress, fire Obama, even remove the Supreme Court.
They acting together wield ultimate power in this country. The feds control things to fragment their power, but it is getting tougher to control. example is the 29 states that signed on to fight the Obamacare exchange funding by the feds which is illegal.
