There is a movie from the 1990’s or early 2000’s starring Cuba Gooding, jr as Ben Carson and the incident with the knife is in there. If I remember right it was a real turning point in his life and he realized he could have gone to jail but instead became closer to God, got serious about becoming a doctor and learned to control is anger. So that story was already out there, way before he was running for President. Everybody says he's too soft spoken and calm but the movie showed he wasn't always that way and how this incident was one of the ways he came to the realization he was headed in the wrong direction and changed.

Given your tag line, I’m surprised you don’t get it. Have you not heard how that experience led him to change his life? You think he should leave a life-changing experience out of his speeches, especially when it’s motivational?
I’m guessing you haven’t heard much more than what you wrote.
