The Errors of the Militant Atheist

Their primary error is the assumption that a religious free society is even possible. They are not going to get a religious free society. Once they drive out a religion that tolerates them, they will get a dominating religion that will not tolerate them.

Idiots.

Global Warming could be considered the “religion” of the Left, as it fits in nicely with their militant views of the awfulness of humankind.

When arguing with atheists, communists, and your run-of-the-mill leftists, the one comment I have always, always encountered is "go read book, maaahn," at which point the specimen usually makes its exit.

I always take it as an admission of defeat in the argument.

I am of the opinion (and it’s just my opinion, mind you) that atheists refuse to want to believe in God because they would then have to acknowledge that there is a Presence that is greater than themselves. I also believe that, if the atheist acknowledges that there is a God, then they would have to stop the behaviors that God has said are harmful. These are behaviors they cherish...things such as “free” sex, homosexuality, abortion, adultery, drug use, or any number of behaviors shown to be harmful to humans.

Since they don’t want to believe in God, they believe they are free to engage in these behaviors, and that they won’t have to face any consequences for these behaviors when they die.

It surprises me, the hatred and vitriol these people have towards God. How can someone get so worked up about Someone that doesn’t exist? I believe that, deep down, they KNOW He exists, and they KNOW that...despite all their refusing to accept it...that there IS going to be a reckoning someday. And that makes them angry.

I am also of the opinion that even if they were shown irrefutable proof of the existence of God, they would go utterly insane. They are dedicated to pleasing only themselves and their desires, and it would drive them stark, raving bonkers to have the realization that they were WRONG.

(The Good News in all of this is, that when they have reached the end of themselves and realize the utter futility of their actions, God, through His Son, Jesus Christ, is there to love them, forgive them, and to help them live the life He intended.)

My personal favorite is that nothing obeyed the laws of physics before there was physics. Been trying to wrap my head around that one for decades.

Militant atheists deride the literalistic interpretation of sacred scriptures, but, putting aside the fact that "literalism" in this sense is itself a modern phenomenon and is sidelined by many great theistic scriptural traditions

And so a potentially good article is spoiled. The author must be a Catholic.

I wish someone would write an article on the errors of militant "theistic evolution."

I have observed over my almost 68 yrs. of life that unrighteousness makes one stupid. Embarrassingly so.

How many errors of judgement come from a prideful heart? From believing that “I am a really smart person - so most of my decisions and judgements are correct.” One might have a lot of potential intellectual horsepower but, due to pride, take it down a wrong path. History is full of such individuals.

I’ll take just one example from history and the Bible (because it has a somewhat happy ending). Read about King Nebuchadnezzar in the book of Daniel.

Today’s politicians all around the world are skilled in knowing what people really think they want at the moment and devising lies to make them believe that the laws of the universe and the moral laws don’t apply to them. These “wise and caring leaders” tell folks they can deliver the fantasies they believe in. People are angry that life is so hard - especially in the spoiled western nations. They are angry at God for not being good on their terms. This anger and rebellion is about to reach a fever pitch in our world and our latest batch of politicians is gearing up to channel that anger into some real world changing events - all of which will make everything even worse than before. The calls for a one world governing body are getting louder everyday. Does anyone really believe that that is going to turn out well?

Humility before honor and pride before a fall. The meek shall inherit the earth. From this point forward it’s only going to get worse.

The Catholic aversion to "literalism" is some sort of mental sickness. Especially considering that the hypocrites interpret the "real presence" and the "virgin birth" quite literally.

Reason and logic scream that if supernatural miracles occur in the universe, the creation of everything from nothing could not have been governed by "natural laws" that did not even exist.

The only problem with your belief is there is no evidence to suggest Atheist are more likely to engage in those behaviors than the Religious are.

For example, compare the abortion rate, single parenthood, drug use, crime, etc of Blacks who are very Christian to Orientals who lean heavily to Atheism.

If what you say is true, Toyko, Seoul, Beijing, etc should be crime infested hell holes, while Monrovia, Port Au Prince, Johannesburg, etc should be world class cities.

Science takes things apart to see how they work. Religion puts things together to see what they mean.

...Science analyses, religion integrates. Science breaks things down to their component parts. Religion binds people together in relationships of trust. Science tells us what is. Religion tells us what ought to be. Science describes. Religion beckons, summons, calls. Science sees objects. Religion speaks to us as subjects. Science practices detachment. Religion is the art of attachment, self to self, soul to soul. Science sees the underlying order of the physical world. Religion hears the music beneath the noise. Science is the conquest of ignorance. Religion is the redemption of solitude.
- Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, The Great Partnership

Militant atheist are worse than any of the religious people that they constantly ridicule and criticize. They believe in science and technology but can’t grasp that none of that matters when it comes to believing or not believing in God, that you cannot prove or disprove God’s existence, so it is a personal choice. Religious people get that and respect the right of people to reject what they believe in. The militant atheist cannot duplicate that behavior but insists that unless you uniformly agree with their view they must intellectually bully you into capitulation. They are not students of history or philosophy and most of them suck at basic science, but yet they walk around acting as if their belief system makes them the smartest guy in the room. In a sense, they are the worse kind of zealot, since they are poorly informed, tyrannical, and only satisfied with destroying what they do not believe in.

I appreciate that you said this, and I freely acknowledge that, since it’s my opinion, that I may be wrong.

I should probably alter my statement to insert the word “American” before the word “atheist”. It may not make it 100% accurate, but would probably make it more accurate.
