I think I have answered your questions. Now, your resume and did you vote for Cockroach in the general, and what do you suppose John Stennis would have done? And why, as to the last two questions?

Really didn't need the whole bio but glad to have it as it helps me understand you a bit better.

My whole original point was that many who claim to support someone, do so only with lip service and that's even those who can afford the donations (If one can't afford it, then he can't afford it and I have no quarrel with such folks.). Then, I had one guy claiming that Cruz was well funded enough because he didn't hear any begging coming from him. My point was that Hillary (whom I assume we want to defeat) will have $2 Billion to wreak havoc with and if we expect a conservative to make it to the end and survive, we need to do our part or just shut up about it.

To answer your question, I did not vote for Cockroach in the general but could not make myself vote for the Dem either - it was a Senate seat and not the WH or I may have had to agonize more to come to a final decision. In the meantime I put up signs in my yard and on my car about Cochran's betrayal and what it would mean to support him. I sent McDaniel money before the deal went South and continued to support a comeback for him. He'sen a bit quiet of late but I have hopes he will emerge on a national level.

I haven't a clue what Stennis would have done and really don't care.

I occasionally put the resume out there precisely so that folks who agree or disagree with me on any given topic will better understand where I am coming from. My resume does not prove me right in and of itself. I make mistakes like anyone else.

I was a law student in 1970 when Democrat Senator Thomas Dodd (not to be confused with his sorry offspring Christopher) was seeking a third term. He offered me a campaign staff position at $500 per week which was astronomical then to organize conservatives on his behalf. I told him that I would do the work but not accept any compensation since that would show on campaign finance reports. Leftist Demonrats despised Dodd for being a solid anti-communist and major Senate sponsor of defense spending and my name on his reports would have activated them even more. My name on his reports would have given liberal GOP-E types who were backing Weicker ammunition against me in the GOP. I did not have to be paid to do what I could in my country's interest.

For those RTKBA activists who viewed Tom Dodd as an enemy, I questioned him intensely on the subject and accepted his explanation that his legislation was designed to guarantee that when "Saturday Night Specials" are used in America they would be manufactured in Connecticut. That kind of special interest legislation was his job for his constituents (Colt, Remington, Sturm Ruger, Winchester, Marlin, and other notable firearm manufacturers). Tom wound up running as an Independent third party candidate and got 33% of the vote. The Democrat nominee (Augustus Donahue?) was a non-factor and Weicker got 40%. Later, Tom Dodd offered his services as a lawyer (IIRC he had been the first Chief of the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division in 1938 well before becoming de facto the chief trial prosecutor of Nazi war criminals at Nuremberg) to represent college conservatives against leftist college administrators and their respective Campus Cong anti-war types. On the day when I was to see him at his home for lunch about such representation, I woke up to the news report that he had died during the night. He was a good man. His son Christopher is a corrupt idiot disloyal to his father's memory and values.

Obviously, I have no problem with genuinely conservative people contributing to conservative campaigns. When I ran those youth groups, I would honestly tell elderly contributors and busy businessmen that, if they would supply modest contributions for necessary expenses of activism (no salaries, no perks), the committed young conservatives would provide the time and the hands on effort. What I object to are the multimillion $ PACS to advance special interests groups by effectively bribing candidates to buy public policy for private profit (Haley Barbour and Clark Reed call your offices!). If an individual gives $1000, he does not imagine he is buying obedience.

I don't remember the name of Cockroach's apparently pro-gun and pro-life Democrat opponent but, based on what I have heard, I would have voted for him if only to stick it to McConnell, Cornyn, Cockroach and Barbour. I believe that Stennis (himself a Democrat but a thinking patriot of integrity) would have done likewise, would not have voted for Obozo or Romney and we should care because politics should be a bit deeper than red vs. blue.

We do not differ on principles generally but only on tactics and then not always.

God bless you and yours.
