Saudi officials not only pushed for the White House to keep the arms pipeline open, but also warned the administration against backing away from a longstanding demand that Mr. Assad must leave office.

Now why oh why would the Saudis want to force a secular and insular dictator from office? Answer: to replace Assad with Jihadis both opposed to Israel and not a danger to the Saudis.

Tall order that.

Correction to be more complete: Now why oh why would the Saudis want to force a secular and insular dictator from office? Answer: to replace Assad, AND DISPLACE IRANIAN SHIITES with SUNNI Jihadis both opposed to Israel and not a danger to the Saudis.

The difference between ISIS Sunnis and Saudi Wahabbi Sunnis is that when it comes to Islam, Saudis placate the Wahabbis while they party, and ISIS means it.

O f course, the use of these weapons requires training which will be supplied along with the weapons. In the meantime , will US forces be firing the weapons at Syrian and Russian planes?

The so-called moderate rebels are Muslim Brotherhood affiliated, so is this part of the reasoning behind the Congressional push to declare the MB a terrorist organization.

“Astounding they are admitting this as if it is no big deal.”

To them it is not a big deal. The members of the NWO are already locked in. Now they are sequentially destroying all remaining nation states, one at a time. There are only two that could still defy this One World agenda. The others are signed on or too weak.

That’s about 4800 meters, so slightly above 15,000 feet.

There is a little bit more to the link that does get interesting John:

" Make no mistake, this has gone beyond absurd and is now bordering on the bizarre. It’s apparently not enough that the US is supplying anti-tank missiles to rebels shooting at the very same Iran-backed militias that the US implicitly supports across the border in Iraq so now, the CIA and Saudi Arabia will give these rebels the firepower to shoot down planes, meaning that in the “best” case scenario they’ll be firing at Russian fighter jets, and in the worst case scenario these weapons will end up in the “wrong” hands and be used to down commercial flights.

It's difficult to see how John Kerry can attend "peace" talks in Vienna and keep a straight face while chatting with Sergei Lavrov. That's not to say that Russia bears no responsibility for its role in the conflict (sure, Moscow is supporting a "legitimate" government in Syria but they're still dropping bombs on populated areas), but the US and the Saudis are arming Sunni extremist groups and encouraging them to shoot at Russian and Iranian forces. For Obama to suggest this isn't a proxy war is absurd.

Putting this all together, it now appears possible that the US is, i) sending anti-tank weapons to rebels who are shooting at Iranian soldiers, ii) embedding ground troops near Latakia which means they'll almost certainly be engaging Hezbollah directly, and iii) passing weapons capable of downing a commercial airliner to "select" militants days after a Russian passenger jet exploded in the skies above the Sinai Peninsula.

This is all in conjunction with the Saudis and Erodgan, who just rigged an election in Turkey on the way to rewriting his country's constitution.

And the Western media reports this with a straight face as though it all makes some measure of sense.

Hundreds of Mexicans murdered by weapons given to drug cartels by obama and now we will or have already seen airliners shot down with hundreds of people murdered.

Which have a top range of about 4800 feet.

Some variants have a range well over 20,000'.

Airliners can't stay in the air forever. They have to climb to cruising altitude and then descend back down.

For the sake of argument, let's allow for climb or descent rate of 2,000 FPM (Feet Per Minute), and airspeed of 250 MPH (aircraft will cover 4 miles every minute).

This allows a mobile terrorist equipped with one of these newer variants, to check with some web-based flight tracking system like maybe https://flightaware.com/, jump in his car and travel (10 minutes) to a point which intersects the aircraft's flightpath, up to 40 miles from the airport. Btw, the faster the aircraft's airspeed, the further from the airport the attack can take place.

The terrorist then exits the vehicle, acquires and brings down the airliner which would then be 10 minutes out and passing through 20,000' - a relatively slow moving non-evading target for a missile designed to strike a target traveling in excess of 800 mph in some cases.

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIM-92_Stinger, 70,000 missiles have been produced.

Theoretically, it could mean the end of "safe" air travel anywhere in the world as we currently enjoy it.

Wasting time on this sort of nonsense merely discredits everyone else who points out real wrong doing by the US government.

Sorry for wasting more of your time Johnie.

“U.S. intelligence agencies are concerned that a few older Manpads may already have been smuggled into Syria through supply channels the CIA does not control.”

This is all about getting political cover, by having Republicans publicly support the transfer.

Obama has already sent a bunch of MANPADS of various types, to jihadis of various types in a fluid situation with lax control. The skies will be plagued by them for years to come, and blowback is inevitable. They don’t want to risk a horrific incident right before the election, without having the Republicans on the hook to take the blame.

Yep, yet these same people don't want you to fly your gopro equipped quadcopter in your own backyard without a license.

They should be locked up for the rest of their rotten lives for placing these weapons into the hands of terrorists - and isn't any such thing as a moderate one.
