The first problem with the Republican 'dumbness' is that too many candidates are currently in the field, and being treated as if they are still relevant. {If these candidates don't have the self-awareness of Scott Walker, you can assume their intellect isn't very high.}

Which, you don't see in the Dem part. Sure, some are still running, but you don't see any oxygen being spent on them.

Here, we see Christie (and some others) being mentioned as if he's going to mount a realistic comeback and be some one important. Just as an example.

Top priority is to winnow down to 4 -5 candidates, and republican base can put more serious thought into the election process.

They will eventually go down to this number. I can not imagine that all will stay in
