Reserve your celebrating for after these officials actually do something conservative while in office.

Don't reserve your celebrating. That is tactically wrong. Your advice betrays a profound naivete about human nature. In the struggle ahead, we can't afford the kind of emotionalism you just demonstrated. The Web is a leadership tool, so act like a leader. Celebrate every single advance—accompanied by what the next steps are.

The reason is that there is no ultimate victory (conservative action) without the preliminary victory (conservatives getting elected). There will be countless setbacks, and progress will much of the time be glacial. But do not, just to protect yourself emotionally against your own disappointment later, hold back from celebrating a victory. To behave that way is a failure of courage and imagination concerning the next steps.

No victory is final, except entrance into Heaven. A victory on earth points to the next battle. The troops—all of us—depend on morale, which is affected in part by whether those around us speak with wisdom and are pointed positively toward specific action, rather than pride or fear.

My emotionalism? lol.

The point is that the person I was responding to is jumping up and down saying "See? See? Voting works and all you people who didn't vote for Romney suck!" But we elected a bunch of so-called conservatives in 2012 and not only did nothing conservative happen, but the leftward march continued unabated, even accelerated. Claiming that a mere election win by Republicans is, by itself, evidence of victory for conservatism is beyond foolish at this point. I'm not saying to reserve celebration in order to protect your emotional state (lol!!), I'm advising people to reserve their celebration because, until we see conservative action from the newly elected, we haven't accomplished ANYTHING, and therefore should not be relaxing and patting ourselves on the back.
