Maybe the jihadi sleepers at the airport mistook it for a Russian plane, because it was Russian design, and had light-skinned operators.
Or maybe it was Russians under cover.

IMHO, no matter the reason, American citizens do not belong in the Middle East right now.After both wars in Iraq, several of our younger relatives got high paying job offers in the Middle East. Fortunately, they all said No Thank You!.
