Something startling is happening to middle-aged white Americans. Unlike every other age group, unlike every other racial and ethnic group, unlike their counterparts in other rich countries, death rates in this group have been rising, not falling.
That finding was reported Monday by two Princeton economists, Angus Deaton, who last month won the 2015 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Science, and Anne Case. Analyzing health and mortality data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and from other sources, they concluded that rising annual death rates among this group are being driven not by the big killers like heart disease and diabetes but by an epidemic of suicides and afflictions stemming from substance abuse: alcoholic liver disease and overdoses of heroin and prescription opioids.
The analysis by Dr. Deaton and Dr. Case may offer the most rigorous evidence to date of both the causes and implications of a development that has been puzzling demographers in recent years: the declining health and fortunes of poorly educated American whites. In middle age, they are dying at such a high rate that they are increasing the death rate for the entire group of middle-aged white Americans, Dr. Deaton and Dr. Case found.

I get it, I have two kids in college and it is insanely expensive, but I know that my investment and their hard work will be worth it. However, at no moment have I considered suicide because of economic stress or because people on TV make fun of white people.

With regard to the findings, they did attribute it to drug abuse.
With regard to the broader question of US societal decay, drug abuse is at the core of it.
Slow kill working as planned.
Or people engaging in unhealthy vices because these are the people least likely to have jobs, losing them to illegal immigrants.
We’re in the over 28% tax bracket, probably the 35% bracket. It’s killing us. I’m tired of living paycheck to paycheck while half the country gets free stuff on my dime.

The only way it’s an investment is if you and your kids aren’t taking out any loans to pay for college. Otherwise, it’s a debt, for you and them.

I think Drug Abuse is a symptom of it. I think Alexandr Solzhenitsyn stated the central core of the problem fairly well.

Yep. Same with Immigration laws. We are the most lax country in that too.

It's worse than that. They are borrowing money against the income stream that you and the rest of us feed them. They don't just spend the money they take from us on utter crap, they borrow about 1 1/2 times the amount against future revenues, and then they also spend that on crap. (Mainly to pay off cronies and paying people to raise more Democrat voters.)
Our admitted national debt is close to 20 trillion dollars. We've spent 21 trillion on the "War on Poverty" which is in fact, a Democrat vote farming scheme which is doing nothing other than increasing poverty, and the nation actually owes something like 100 trillion in unfunded liabilities.
The Debt never gets paid unless we undergo hyper-inflation and/or a lot of people die. (So we don't have to pay for their retirements.)

I still think our downfall happened when conservatives abandoned our Institutions. Especially Education. We have a captive audience for 6 hours (not 8 or 9, 6) a day. All the agendas, whatever they may be, are now included in every instruction and additionally every assembly. Every liberal agenda is now a part of early, elementary, middle and high school public education. And then we wonder why the country has shifted. On top of that, our media...news and entertainment has also been promoting the agenda, another area conservatives abandoned.
How can you fight it when you aren’t even in the arena?
