Many have quit GOP and went Independent. I havenât been able to make the jump mainly because I want to vote in Primaries and I have been a registered Republican since 18 and really hope they change before I have to.I haven't made the jump because I'm too darn lazy.
California is an open Primary (another reason to dump the party -- for acquiescing to that edict), so there is no point to be a registered Republican. I checked the State website for instructions about changing parties, but it was too cryptic and I didn't have the time to dig further. One of these days though - and I'll make the departure formal.

California is worse than an open primary; it's a "top two" primary. Two Democrats will always advance to the general election.
