In a rare late-night session, the Senate gave final approval to an ambitious budget and debt deal early Friday, sending it to President Barack Obama to sign.
The final vote on passage was 64-35, as Democrats joined forces with Republican defense hawks over the objections of GOP presidential candidates Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio, all of whom voted against the deal. The bill is aimed at averting a debt default, avoiding a partial government shutdown and setting spending priorities for the next two years.
Earlier in Friday's session, the Senate voted 63-35 to end debate on the measure. The vote to approve the bill was taken just after 3 a.m. EDT.
Obama negotiated the accord with Republican and Democratic leaders who were intent on steering Congress away from the brinkmanship and shutdown threats that have haunted lawmakers for years. Former Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, felt a particular urgency days before leaving Congress, while lawmakers looked ahead to presidential and congressional elections next year.

Half of them are probably secretly ashamed of this, but do not have any idea how to pull free of The Evil Spell. Kind of appropriate that this happened in the lead up days to Halloween.
If voting changed anything, they would have outlawed it years ago.
Now we know how the German people fell under the spell of the National Socialist Workers Party.
Wonder if this people are going to continue to convince themselves that all the horrifying things being warned this oligarchy and dictatorship will do cannot possibly happen here?
Other options ya don't hear about would be...devalue the dollar, raid 401K’s and or a combination all of the above.
If they devalue the dollar, then that means they aren’t really paying back the creditors. Those lenders will retaliate by not lending. I think they’d love to see inflation that can’t be blamed on them, but I don’t think they can do it intentionally.
Raid 401K’s is a very real idea, and you’re right to bring it up. Anything to get more revenue is what they’ll do.
It happens when people start believing in men rather than in God.
Then, when what the men being believed in stand for, goes south, the believers get pulled in the same direction. Nobody dares say stop the game, let me get off.
I believe God is going to seriously reach out during this season of chaos. What I have no idea about, is whether enough people are going to respond, or respond strongly enough, to make a tangible political difference in this particular land at this particular time. It’s certainly possible, but if our goal is to fix our politics, our goal is way too small for the Lord. Our goal should be to fix our eternal destinies, to change our bookings from smoking to nonsmoking as it were. Then that will begin to reflect in circumstances.
... and after our destinies, our more immediate spiritual allegiances. Things which if they are wrong, they can be forgiven, but they can’t be excused.
Biblical history tells us that a nation of people who call themselves of The Lord, who abandon their God, go after the false gods of men, practice sin and lawlessness, and refuse to repent when the messengers of the Almighty give them fair warning - are WITHOUT EXCEPTION - destroyed by the consequences they sown for themselves and an outside force renders the remnant of those people into captivity.
In our case, the foreign outside force that will enslave what remains of us, are being let into the country by the millions. I see where that all goes, but most of the church remains fast asleep.
As Jefferson said: “I tremble for my country when I reflect God is Just, and His Justice will not sleep forever”.
We have 60 million dead babies, and entire generation of Americans, slaughtered in the womb - and that one issue alone, I am convinced is not going to go unanswered by Our Father in Heaven.
If the Civil War was blood payment for the sin of slavery by a nation of Christians who were far more devout than we are today - we should be collectively pissing our trousers and dresses when reflecting what Our Lord is going to require of us in blood for that one institutional abomination alone.
I’ve gotten to see them a couple of times. Bruce has still got it. I understand he’s a conservative. He’s a pretty impressive guy in any case.
There are some people who really groove on thoughts like yours.
Others understand the power of God’s love and look at how much the groovers are actually into that. If it’s little, then they are not truly the carriers of “fair warning” because an entire side of the picture has been omitted.
Without that, what can you expect — only an escape into some other form of self centered moralism, which is as fragile as what had been fled.
And I’m serious about that... without this distinction you might as well be telling them “Thor hates you.” If there is no love upon which to base a salvation.
Love is The Father having sent His only Son to become our Passover sacrifice.
I do not give a rat’s behind who “grooves” on my thoughts or not. I spoke the truth. God consistently allowed a nation of His people to be destroyed, having their children stacked up like cordwood for giving themselves over to wickedness.
Having been witness to REAL persecution while living in slums with persecuted brethren, I can tell you that the American idea of what constitutes God’s Love is NOT biblical nor how God operates.
Painful lesson to learn. But true - even if rejected by most.
Yup. U see that they are on tour this year? They do sound amazing live. Saw em in ‘85 when I was a teen. UP THE IRONS!
I was pleased to hear it because it lead me to read that Bruce had knocked his cancer back! I doubt if I’ll get a chance to see them, but I’ll keep my eyes open just in case.
“My conclusion: We’ve won the battle of ideas. We lose the battle of controlling the ballot box.”
My conclusion: It is time we open up the cartridge box.
Good to see that both of my Senators (Deb Fischer and Ben Sasse) both voted against this crap sandwich.
And I’ll repeat myself as often as it takes to drive the point home ...
WHY are we still funding the beast whose number one goal is the destruction of the Constitutional Republic and the enslavement of the American People? Take the maximum exemptions on your W4 (Declare m-10) AND DO NOT FILE A FEDERAL TAX RETURN ... Screw these duplicitous cowards, political whores, and jack-booted tyrants ...
It is time to take off the gloves, people ...
It is time to pick up the Louisville slugger, and crack skulls!
The four sins that “cry to Heaven for vengeance” ...
1.) The shedding of innocent blood
2.) The sin of Sodom - effeminate behavior and the unnatural vice
3.) The oppression of widows and orphans
4.) Defrauding a laborer of just wages
Guess how many this government has violated?
Predictions:
1.) Iran WILL get its nuclear weapon - several potent ones, to be sure ...
2.) Russia will provide Iran with several ICBMs ...
3.) Iran will then proceed to turn Washington D.C. into a 1400 ft deep, three-mile wide crater - probably on the eve of the SOTU address.
4.) The U.S. will respond in kind, launching a full-scale nuclear retaliatory strike against all of Iran - totally annihilating the nation from the face of the Earth ...
5.) Americans, having witnessed the total destruction of the two greatest sources of evil in this world, will finally have freedom and peace.
I never referenced “the American idea of God’s love.” That’s pretty jolly shallow.
But you too are missing the point if “a Passover sacrifice” is all God’s love is to you, as though He were content to be your not-hell, in order to let you keep on doing what you had been doing because you won’t be slain.
It is the love of Heaven that moves people to do what God wants them to do in Christ. Why do you insist on mixing and matching scripture inaptly?
And I can clarify further. The Passover sacrifice pointed forward to Christ, as a symbol, and a symbol which never claimed to have the complete story in it. Christ doesn’t point back to the symbol. Going in reverse like that is going to get you a distorted view.
