The Pope is a bit mixed up.
The Vatican usually calls the State of Israel, “Terra Sancta”, the Holy Land and thereby kind of skirts by that uncomfortable argument of really recognizing that the Jews have returned to their ancestral homeland as promised in the Torah (Old Testament).
The Vatican embraces the PLO narrative about what transpired in that region and who deserves what.
The Pope can say all he wants about Antisemitism and that is OK but he neglects to mention today's main manifestation of the Jews, namely, Israel. So, in a way, it's OK to be ANTI-ZIONIST but not Antisemitic. See the difference? There is none...thanks anyway Holy Father...

Don’t worry. Fr. Lombardi will explain away what the Pope said tomorrow.

My emphasis, in direct and unequivocal contradiction to your false statement.
I read the article. It's not hard to do.
