Never much cared for Rite-Aid, for that very reason. During the Clinton years, that company bought out a local New Orleans pharmacy chain called Katz & Besthoff (K&B), which had kept soda fountains into the 1970s and sold really good store-brand products. Stock selection promptly plummeted, and as the K&B employees lost interest and quit, so did customer service.
Can't say I'm sorry to see Rite-Aid go. What, me, hold a grudge? Naah.
