No, apparently not according to most of the other students interviewed, both white and black. She doesn't seem to be the usual street thug, but is generally described as quiet and not a troublemaker. Seems like the whole thing started over her quiet refusal to give up her phone, which should have been handled by the administrators instead of a LEO.

I think all the folks applauding the head cracking are way off base here.

From what I've read, the girl was approached by more than one teacher, admin type and security official.
While the cop may have been a little over zealous, you can not allow the rug rats to dictate what they will or won't do.

If you believe her friends in the class. Heck little St Skittles and Gentle Giant were both described as kind to their mothers and not someone that would ever behave badly.

The fact she behaved in such a bad manner that the teacher directed her to leave the room, that she then refused the teachers direction to leave the room, admin would be in no position to ‘make her leave.’ Police needed to be called. This not the old days where a student respected authority and could suffer consequences administered by a teacher or admin. . .both are powerless, the police were the only option.
