RIP. In 1991 Maureen O’Hara came out of retirement and was in “Only the Lonely” co-starring with John Candy. That movie is a great comedy. Maureen O’Hara had the funniest lines in the movie. She played the part of John Candy’s character’s mother. She was not pleased with her Irish American son going out with an Italian American woman. She considered it to be an inter-racial relationship. Great move. I will always miss Maureen O’Hara and John Candy.

Oh my gosh, I'd forgotten that! She was so great in that movie. Thanks for the reminder. You're right, that character was an absolute hoot, and that Maureen O'Hara played the part was so perfect. She was such a gutsy, fun, classy reserved lady -- so many contradictory things in one fine woman. I like to think it was the redhead in her!
