To me it smacks of amazing arrogance and pride. No one should pretend to know God’s will. Yet both Cruz son and father seem to do that a lot.

We have some indications of what God wants through the Bible and what he doesn’t like but man does not have the grace to know the full mind of God nor is it his place.

Tell me about it... “Who knows the mind of God, that he should be His counselor?”

We are blessed to have significant biblical revelation of the Lord’s general inclination and intent, such as “God is love.” So we can count on certain attitudes towards the Lord having certain ranges of outcomes.

But the proposition of knowing good and evil (on one’s own) is not only wrong, it is LUDICROUSLY wrong.

If Cruz will have an Achilles’ heel (apologies for the pagan connotation) it would be here. An attempt to do godly-styled things in the proud flesh and seeing it backfire, because the Lord is really stubborn about wanting people to let His love drive what they do in His name.

Trump, with his general bent to be kindly towards Christians but not claiming any special spiritual revelation, might actually end up being a channel of more blessings.
