You don’t understand the difference between Medicare ( INSURANCE) and medicaid (FREE STUFF). We pay our premiums our whole like — like Social Security. If the policy is not their after all that life time money, there is going to be blood in the streets,in my opinion. Stay away from medicare— BEN!!
Yep. I was dropped day after Obamacare started, and they have repeatedly sent threatening letters asking for $$$.
Nope - I’m not, as you put it, a “selfish boomer”
I’m a great gramma in her 80’s -
If we had a real, open, free-market, free-choice medical system and market, prices would drop through the floor.”””
Along with these items, the Tort lawyers need to be reined in. Tort actions need to have a nationwide cap & no extras allowed. We ALL know someone in our lives who DID NOT follow doctor’s order after any kind of procedure, and then sued because they didn’t have the ‘recovery’ they thought they deserved. The doctor isn’t & wasn’t responsible for that.
I had a hysterectomy on the same day as another woman I was acquainted with. We both had virtually the same instructions about what we could & couldn’t do for a number of days & weeks. I followed my instructions to the letter. Others cleaned my house since I wasn’t allowed to run the vacuum. I didn’t drive. I didn’t lift grocery bags. I didn’t have ANY intimate relations. All were not allowed if I was going to heal up properly. She was convinced that her partner would not be faithful, so she engaged in intimate relations within a week of her surgery. That was in 1975. To this day, she still has very uncomfortable sexual encounters (with the same guy) due to adhesions that formed when she was supposed to be healing. I have no sympathy for her. The doctor didn’t do a single thing wrong. He gave her instructions, and she chose not to listen.
In 1988, I went to my OB-GYN. My usual office visit was $35. This time it was $75. I certainly questioned this, as I had been a patient there for over 13 years.
The answer? His Malpractice Insurance had gone from $39,000 premium a year to a premium in excess of $120,000. He had had ONE claim in 30 years of practice and had won the case.
TORT lawyers were the problem, and they still are. I am totally disgusted with the ads on TV for all the lawyers. They all certainly look like ambulance chasers.
