Corey Jones was shot three times by an undercover police officer who never showed him a badge, attorneys for Jones' family said Thursday.
Jones' family and their attorneys met with the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office on Thursday to get more details about what happened when Jones was shot early Sunday while waiting with his broken-down car parked on an Interstate 95 exit ramp near PGA Boulevard.
The Jones family attorneys said they were told that the plain-clothed Palm Beach Gardens police officer fired six total shots while Jones never fired his gun.

Good point. Unless the officer said he never showed a badge how would anyone know?
I doubt there was evil intent on the part of the cop or Jones.
The cop probably approached what he believed to be a disabled or abandoned car and suddenly found himself with a gun pointed at him, by what he thought was a criminal and fired.
Jones probably thought a the cop was bad guy was coming to attack him and pulled the gun to protect himself.
It is possible the cop screwed up in the way he made the approach, creating a more dangerous situation for both parities. It is also possible that out of fear, Jones did something to cause it. I will wait for more evidence to come out before trying to pass judgment.
How does the sleazy low life obama worshipping scumbag vile reporter know the cop never showed his badge....?
because theywere using the fact he was armed as jutification, at least that is how media was spinning it.
there is an angle all ccw folks ought to realize that if they murder you and then find your gun they can claim you were going for yours. they dont even have to plant their own ham sandwich on you.
anyone can say they are a cop.
anyone also can have a realistic looking badge as well.
and why do you trust anyone who just shows you a badge? at 3 am and possibly demanding you follow orders that could put’you in serious jeopardy if they are a crook?
I agree, makes it tough. I think during a home invasion, I'm shooting no matter what, given how many times the perps impersonate cops, to include uniforms and badges these days.
"All lives matter," Jones Jr. said, adding that he meant "no disrespect" to the Black Lives Matter movement. "This is not a black thing."
Not much I can add to that. They seem like very nice people. I wish the police were not so trigger happy.
It is unknown if the cop shot Corey Jones BEFORE he knew Jones was armed. If the cop thought the car was unattended he may have been surprised when Jones approached and asked him what he was doing there. 3am, scared cop, black male. Not too hard to imagine a scared cop in that situation emptying his pistol in fear.
And that’s not an excuse for manslaughter.
That is really the terrible thing, if they are cops they will try to kill you and if they are thieves they will try to kill you.
A reasonable person kmows crooks impersonte cops more and more, and so you cannot trust someone smashing your door in at 3 am with no warning and you sound asleep.
This is going to sound terrible when I say it, but since that’s never stopped me, let me go ahead....
The plain clothed officer doesn’t sound white, does anyone know anything about him?
There are few abandoned cars around here. It is hard to imagine the pressing need to investigate a suspected "abandoned car" at 3 am unless it was within the lane of traffic.
This does beg the question of training - what is the SOP for this kind of situation?
But in Florida, on sight, I'd figure Hispanic
And apparently he's not that diligent and punctual about following procedure

Could be you too, deserve to be shot by an undercover officer.
With the caveat that I wasn’t there, I will say that self defense doesn’t require a badge.
Yeah, if I attacked the cop while armed I would expect some resistance.
Most unmarked cars have some kind of flashing lights hidden in the grill. When turned on, the car is readily identified as a cop car. Evidently this particular vehicle wasn’t equipped. Like someone said earlier, this cop should have remained in his car and called a marked cruiser. He should get the chair just for being stupid.
What makes you think it was self defense?
Where did you read that he attacked the cop?
Concur...I find it difficult to see a scenario where this unidentified, plainclothes officer in a unmarked car shot this kid three times can be justified...
I terrible mistake where the officer should be treated just like John Q Citizen...
At least manslaughter...
Go Google the incident. Police are not always wrong. Blacks are attempting to elevate themselves above ordinary legal processes.
