Also look into configuring your the DNS servers you use on your home network! If you're using Google's DNS (8.8.8.8) for your network, you're simply telling them where you're going by just going there. Anywhere!
Check out OpenNicProject.org. This is an open source volunteer DNS service with DNS servers in markets all around the world. You just have to set the DNS servers on your home router or even your local computer, and you can browse in relative anonymity. The providers on this site do not save your DNS records (no DNS caching). As such, they can't provide any information to authorities looking to track your online browsing habits.
