What is the point of battleships in the age of the cruise missile. Feel like we could sink this thing by remote control from Tampa at the push of a button, right?

There is a counter weapon for everything. That does not mean you don't build it. You just build it to defend itself. Warships have defenses against cruise missiles, they are layered and effective. Tanks have reactive armor against anti-tank weapons. Fighter planes have flares and jammers to defend against AA missiles. Even submarines have decoys to defend against torpedoes.
