I liked Fred, and didn't see that as a barrier. With Trump, no one can say he is not
vibrant, energetic, exudes good health and vitality. Age is worn differently. I am a boyish
64 who runs and acts younger than many of the people I know my age. It's just in the
genes. I think this perception of a person's age comes into play.

I'd say the big difference would be that Fred Thompson probably acted 'old', whereas Trump does not. Fred couldn't seem to make up his mind as to whether to get into the race, or not. He came across as a doddering old fool. I'd say the same if he was 50. And less than 50 - an indecisive young 'un...

Fred Thompson also has a problem with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL), a form of cancer. Even though it might not affect his life expectancy, the perception was there. It certainly did not stop him from having kids. With his present wife, Jeri, they have a daughter Hayden born in 2003 and a son Samuel born in 2006.
