He should throw his hat into the ring!
I had the pleasure of meeting Rep. King At the DC Chapter annual Christmas Party in 2002. Over the next year or so (I had to move to Jacksonville in Feb. 2004 to take care of my late mother) I got to know Rep. King relatively well.
Our “connection” was his support for the FairTax; he has been a co-sponsor and avid supporter of the FairTax since he was sworn in as a Congressman in 2003. When I was in WDC, I was a lobbyist for the FairTax, and I relied on Rep. King for introductions to other Members and his sage advice. He was most helpful!
If Steve King were Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, we would get the FairTax legislation passed and signed into law.
And, my fellow FReepers, THAT REALLY EXCITES ME!
Perhaps you will help me convince Rep. King to throw his hat into the ring?

I’m pretty sure I introduced you to him, my FRiend.
Steve is my congressman, representing the 4th District of Iowa. He’s an old friend - from the same home town, where we both launched into our political lives at the same time - albeit what I would call an estranged friend since we promoted him from the state senate to the U.S. House. The reasons for that estrangement aren’t worth going into here.
I often said that I had never met anyone with more native gifts as a legislator. He has a capacity for politics and strategy and policy that is practically unequaled.
Fact is, I don’t know of anyone else currently serving on the Hill who would make a better Speaker.
Yes, Steve King would make an excellent Speaker.
Is Steve King 100% pro-life with NO EXCEPTIONS? The life issue is my Number 1 issue, but other issues such as firing the IRS are important as well.
btw, I just read a tweet from Mark Levin saying that Paul Ryan is open to running for Speaker. Too bad.
