John McCain was a screw-up who happened to be an ‘Admiral’s Boy’ and received, as a result, a lot of high citations and medals for bravery where not one single act of bravery is ever described other than he flew a plane, got it shot down, ejected and was taken prisoner.
Many fine soldiers performed true heroic acts, were shot and left to die as they rotted away in horrible jungles of Vietnam, and they never received such high and mighty medals as John McCain.
John McCain is a fraud.
But Trump did not say John was not a hero. What he said was he prefers heroes who were not heroes because of their capture. McCain never performed a heroic act and no such act was ever described in his citations, which is required by DOD manual.
He’s simply a son and grandson of Admirals who was decorated for that reason.

And when you think about it, who cares if McCain was or was not a hero at one time in his life? So was Benedict Arnold. You can be a hero one day and then proceed to make bad decisions and do terrible things. Then you become a traitor.
