So you thought, hmm, should I be gay or straight at some point in your life?
It never occurred to me to be gay. It never occurred to me to do a lot of things. That doesn’t mean I made a choice not to do them. I’ve never looked at a child and thought, well, should I rape them or not?
I’m not particularly religious, so I don’t have a biblical reason to be opposed to someone being gay, as long as they practice it with consenting adults. I believe my brother should have the lawful protections afforded to being married as I do. I realize that’s not going to win me any friends here, but I don’t give a damn.
From a young age, as soon as I became somewhat sexually aware, I fantasized about what I would do with women. Straight out, never thought about being with a guy. But there are people with different opinions on the subject, from a little curious to bisexual, to mostly gay, to full out gay. Promiscuity of any of these is not good and can lead to a host of problems and diseases. That is true whether you are gay or straight.
It’s not up to anyone else to question or cast aspersions on my sexuality, and I feel the same about anyone else. We all have to make our way in this life, and not everything is a choice. Some things you just know.
Wisdom comes from strange places sometimes. Like a movie
Edwards: Why the big secret? People are smart. They can handle it.
Kay: A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you’ll know tomorrow.
No, really? I never would have guessed.
