German mayoral candidate wounded in knife attack

BERLIN (AP) — A leading candidate to be mayor of Cologne was stabbed and seriously wounded Saturday by a man who claimed anti-foreigner motives, an attack that Germany's interior minister said underlined growing concerns over hatred and violence in the refugee crisis.

Henriette Reker was stabbed in the neck at a campaign stand set up by Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats at a market. Her condition was stable, police chief Wolfgang Albers said.

Reker is an independent candidate in Sunday's election for the new mayor of Germany's fourth-biggest city, but is backed by Merkel's conservatives and two other parties. The 58-year-old currently heads Cologne's social affairs and integration department, and is responsible for refugee housing.

I have no empathy for politicians who are trying to destroy their country. The problem is that these elites have no empathy for their citizens.

Well then as you seem to define trying to destroy one's country with taking liberal views on immigration, do you support the stabbing of Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Barack Obama, or even many Republicans like George Bush?

I sincerely hope you are not being literal about what you are saying, because you are agreeing with violence towards your political enemies - not causing it yourself, but still encouraging it.

I would hope that one can have empathy even with bad people. Empathy does not mean agreement with another's views. But even more, you seem to define someone as bad who has a different political view with you on immigration. Could it be possible that they are simply mistaken instead? Or maybe they have even sinned, but are they so bad that they deserve this?

And maybe, just maybe, one should help others when they are of a different religion, even a violent religion, if they are as risk of dying, say from genocide or civil war. Maybe even the person at moral fault is the one who closes his door on his neighbor.

German politicians need to start representing the German people and not the Muslim invaders. If they don’t, there will be more of this and the German state will use the police and military against their own citizens until they are overthrown.
