WASHINGTONSen. Ted Cruzs campaign on Thursday named, Lindy M. Buddy Pilgrim, the former president of poultry giant Pilgrims Pride, to lead its faith outreach initiative.
Pilgrim, an ordained minister, will serve as National Director of the Faith and Religious Liberties Coalition. Along with leading the multi-billion dollar poultry company from 1993 to 1998, Pilgrim was a top bundler for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabees 2008 presidential campaign, and has a long track record in conservative politics.
Now, more than ever, we must pick the one person who will most unwaveringly and fearlessly take a stand to protect our Judeo-Christian conservative values, said Pilgrim in a statement. That one person is Ted Cruz.
Pilgrims uncle, Lonnie Bo Pilgrim, founded his namesake poultry company in 1946. and has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Republicansmostly in Texas.

Evangelicals, devout Christians and religious liberty are centerpieces of Cruzs campaign. He launched his presidential bid at Liberty Universitythe worlds largest Christian college, held a rally for religious liberty in Iowa and insists his electoral success depends on millions of evangelicals backing him.
Our campaign believes that people of faith voting their values can change America for the better overnight, said Cruz in a statement. That is why we are dedicating the time and resources to reach people of faith and let them know that they have a candidate who will fight for them.

Pilgrim’s Pride single handed ruined much of east and northeast Texas by importing illegal workers for their rendering plants. Towns like Mt. Pleasant, Pittsburg, and Gilmer became little Mexico.
Buddy Pilgrim is the former president of Pilgrims Pride.
I just visited all three towns online. Interesting. Last census 2000. Wonder what the census would be today and how would they identify? Lord help us!
Oops, I didn’t read enough...the others are prob 2010 also.
Gilmer Texas is a town in and the county seat of Upshur County, Texas, United States.[3] It is best known for being the home of the East Texas Yamboree, as well as the birthplace of popular music singers Don Henley of the Eagles band, and Johnny Mathis, as well as blues musician Freddie King. The population was 4,905 at the 2010 census. The town’s namesake is a former United States Secretary of the Navy, Thomas Walker Gilmer.
A good example is Mt. Pleasant High school. In early 90’s it was a small town high school with relatively no problems and 80% white and the rest blacks and a few Mexicans. Today it is 64% Mexican and 30% white. Since the early 2000’s the school has had to install metal detectors on the doors and have full time school police for a school with 2000 kids.
Thanks, it’s great to get first hand info. The best kind!
