I think my barometer for all things political on the national level is Ted Cruz. Basically, whatever he thinks has so far suited me just fine.

So, I will wait and see what Ted thinks.

Watts voted for Obama. He’s disqualified.

I hope your wrong. I suspect you are. But, I’ll believe you when I see proof.

I heard him say it on a talk radio show. It got discussed here quite extensively. I'm kinda busy right now, but I'm sure if you use google it can be confirmed in a minute or two.

If I'm wrong I'll apologize and take it back, but I don't think I'll have to.

Well actually it just doesn’t say that they can’t.

Article 1 Section 2:
The House of Representatives shall chuse(Sic) their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.

They never have chosen anyone who wasn’t a member of Congress. If they did it now, it might make them seem like idiots.

Perhaps a black ex-athlete is not the answer

While I don’t see a problem of them nominating a black or other race for Speaker, there is no way in the world they are going to elect someone not already in the House to be 3rd in line for the Presidency.

They won’t give up that power and prestige to one not their own.

He’d be a better choice than 99% of the others whose names I’ve heard bandied about.

"The power of the Congressional Black Caucus is truly unspeakable,” U.S. Rep. Charlie Rangel, a Democrat from New York and CBC member, told NBCBLK last week.>

That's funny. And he's probably too stupid to realize what he [actually] said.

bw,

Thanks for the response. You may be right my FRiend, but I would have to be picked up off the floor.

No apology necessary.

Having heard JC personally talk a dozen or more times about taxation, he would have had to make a major change in the way his Daddy raised him. I should see him in a month or so and I will ask him.

Color me puzzled.

JC is such a slow talker. How about JJ Watt?

"They can do much worse than Watts. "

THAT seems to be a proven fact.

After a bit of research:

Watts “considered” voting for Obama in 2008. But he didn’t.

But, he only conteibuted to one presidential candidate -John McCain - Obamas’s opponent.

Interesting aside: he defeated John Boehner for a party leadership position in 1998.

Newt Gingrich and now J C Watts may help free up a member so they don’t have
to be engaged with that chore.

Here’s some threads on the Newt Gingrich speaker from a few days ago.

I still recall in 2008 JC was on Hannity’s radio show and stated he was voting for obama because it was “historic”.

I lost all respect for him from that point on.

JC made a decision based on “the color of one’s skin and NOT the content of his character.”

Classic definition of a racist according to a wise Republican.

We (not sure who you speak of) don’t need the Presidency, we need a good USA loving red blooded tooth and nails fighting conservative for President...

of course that’s what i meant.

be we, i mean conservatives. I thought that was just a given on this site.

Cruz. Trump possibly. That’s it.

that’s a great rating.

i would think he’s against it since blacks are complaining mexicans are taking their jobs.

Staten Island would lose half its landscapers, cleaners and construction workers if they were kicked out.

that’s fine with me.

I have Many acquaintances that either use them or use a company that uses them. But want them deported :) makes no sense

How can someone who doesn’t currently hold an elected office be considered for SOTH....ultimately, 3rd in line to the presidency????
