The jumper will incorporate a side zipper and the slacks will have a front zipper to help with changing in and out of uniform, the Navy said. Both men's and women's uniform pants will have the traditional 13 buttons but those are just for show -- "they will not be functional," the Navy said.

When it came to taking a leak, 13-button blues were never very functional. A tailored set was good looking, though.

I seem to recall a Dress Blue Jumper purchased in Hong Kong - supposedly silk - with the ‘dragon on inside of cuffs’, 13 button trousers - all lined with supposed silk - and the jumper had a zipper on the side.
Believe the outer material was sharkskin (supposedly)

Can just imagine the ‘today’ me in such a get up. back then, as a (more than) skinny kid, you could almost ‘count your ribs’ with the ‘tailored Blues’.

Since I was a REAL liberty hound (was shocked to learn in later days that there was more to Liberty than the 2 mile radius that surrounded most ports) so I must have just shipped over to be able to afford them as I was probably making about 150- bucks a month as an E5 in 61

My friend/neighbor and his wife got upset when I told them ‘Spandex isn’t for everyone....(I was referring to me ..HA) but they both figured I was mocking them (Well, if the ‘foo shits’, wear it)....
