Gotta take issue with The Donald here.

We haven’t been nation building, we’ve been caliphate building.

Nation Building is done by INDIGINENTS and cant be gifted or imposed.

Its BS and a sign of taking the lives of ones own soldiers lightly.

We’ve been nation-destroying, refugee-creating, and money-burning.

“He sounds like the good Democrats I saw tonight on CNN”

What do you exactly mean by that? You believe in nation-building, is that what you mean?

Propping up friendly dictatorships is probably a more accurate description than nation building.

No. I think he is right, perhaps since the first world war we have been taught that we were bringing democracy to the world. This became like a national mission, we have to rethink this. We have to think about both our blood and treasure. Many parts of the world are not good candidates for democracy. We can help some people get closer to democracy by means other than warfare, such as education.

No, we really haven’t. We have been pathetic at nation building, but we have tried.

Last time we really did “nation-destroying” was WWII. Maybe we should go back to that.

We need to stop nation destroying, Libya and Syria being prime example. Obama almost succeeded in Egypt

How can anyone be against nation building as a national strategy? Just look at Egypt, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Kosovo etc.
When we destabilize a place its wonderful!

Trump just doesn’t know what success looks like.

Especially not Afghanistan where men rape little boys for “fun” and it is considered part of their “culture”.

Assad is a horror — but this may be another case where the only result of our intervention would be to replace bad with worse. It happened in China, Cuba, Iran, Nicaragua, Libya, and Egypt, among others.
