Ranger School is a leadership course. The Ranger Regiment has a separate selection and qualification process. Most Ranger School graduates will never serve in the Ranger Regiment.
Retiring from the military is not based on a set age. I was prior enlisted and retired as a major at 43 with 22.5 years and only because there was a downsizing that led to most members with 19 or more years of active duty being forced to retire. My younger brother was also prior enlisted and commissioned two years behind me and was able to stay 30 years, retiring as a LtCol and was in his early 50s.
Whether or not she is being carried is another matter and I believe she probably is being passed through, just like some of the first group of female pilots whose skills were less than good. It’s about visuals and political correctness more than it is about training and passing qualified individuals regardless of gender.
I’ve seen that happen over and over and it isn’t new. Promotions and school slots going to women over more qualified men has been going on since the early 70s at the dawn of the feminist movement.
My college roommate went through jump school in his early 40s. He mentioned to the commander that he was “one of the oldest” officers in the school. The commander corrected him. HE was the oldest officer in the school.
He did go into combat, but he was not jumping from anything.
That’s hilarious! Thanks.
Ah um... she is a good looking soldier.
Go home and raise the children you had, honey. Why is she doing this training if she’s not going to go into combat?
Women still can’t perform the same as men regardless of the new gyms.
It’s the minds of women....not good for combat stress
Physical strength or not
Freepers are simply stupid on this
Brainwashed by the culture of their youth
You might find one in 10,000
Great way to field an army
So in other words they’d be useless in a ground war where strength, endurance and long grueling periods with little sleep and no time for hygiene would be the rule.
Because allowing a 37 year old mother to make it through Ranger School is more important than giving a 22 year old 11C or 13F a chance to go, all to make a point and shatter a standard.
First group of female pilots? Standards at SERE were permanently dropped to accommodate females.
