Cold 'Blob' in North Atlantic Ocean May Affect Weather in Europe, Eastern US

A "blob" of abnormally cold water in the North Atlantic, located near Greenland, has the potential to put enough drag on the ocean current to impact weather conditions in the years to come.

According to data compiled by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), sea surface water temperatures over much of the Atlantic were warmer than average spanning January to August 2015. Waters from the northwestern Caribbean to the central part of the ocean were not only very warm but were record warm.

However, very chilly to record cold water has developed near Greenland, the NOAA data revealed.

The reason for the cold pocket and less salty water is believed to be due to the melting ice in Greenland discharging fresh water into the nearby North Atlantic.

Let’s ask these ‘scientists’ just how much water is being ‘melted into the ocean’ compared to the volume of the ocean

That is a good approach. The volume of the North Atlantic is 146,000,000 km3. Let's say that 1/100 of the North Atlantic is cooler (probably lots higher, but I'm being conservative). That's 1.5 million km3 which is 1.5 million Gt. The total melt in Greenland has bottomed out. The people who claim that there is a exponential drop in ice mass are not being honest (using old data). The mass looks like this

Let's say there is still 200 Gt lost each year (actually quite a bit lower recently). Most of that is not near the cold spot around Iceland because the big outlet glaciers are in NE and NW Greenland. But let's say it is 1/2 or 100 Gt near the cold spot (probably a lot less than 1/2). That's 100 Gt compare to 1.5 million Gt. An olympic sized pool is 660,000 gallons. The added cold water from Greenland melt would be 44 gallons. Remember though, my numbers are very conservative so your 5 gallon bucket analog is probably quite close to reality.

J/K (it was only a guess)- but mark my words- this ‘cold blob’ may very well become the next Alarmist “Artic vortex” nightly news story that gets hammered day in day out to frighten the masses- (And we can be sure we will NOT get the actual facts or measurements In those stories because it would make their claim look foolish- Dumping a 5 gallon pail of cold water into a warmer water Olympic sized pool would not result in ‘dangerous cooling’ in the pool, nor in a change that could affect anything really, there simply would not be enough cold water to make a difference- the resulting cooling of the total volume would be nearly impossible to measure it would be so slight )- because like some have said above, they are setting themselves up for the future incase there is no more warming for another decade or two, they can blame it on this ‘cold blob’ for ‘changing weather patterns’-

thanks for the link- unfortunately, news like that will never make it into main stream media sites- and very few people will ever see such info- The only info they get is from the propaganda channel “The Weather Channel” and from other propaganda shows like john stewart, connan Obrien etc.

You can see that they are already laying the groundwork to claim man is to blame IF temps don’t rise in the next 3 decades
