Moscow Demands Britain Explain "Green Light To Shoot Down Russian Jets"
Zero Hedge ^ | 11 Oct 2015 | Tyler Durden

The chances of escalation from a proxy war to outright war just went to 11 on the Spinal Tap amplifier of sabre-rattling. A day after British and NATO pilots were reportedly given the green light to take drastic action against Russian fighter jets if they come under threat during missions over Iraq, Interfax reports that the Russian Defense Ministry has demanded clarification. Senior defence sources say it is just a matter of time before our fighters are involved in a deadly confrontation with Russian jets.

The Chinese, it appears, are wholeheartedly behind Putin's efforts, judging by the following puff-piece from Xinhua (unofficially China's government mouthpiece)...

air supremacy /control is decided either by agreement or force. The USA, Britain, and French were all invading or threatening to invade Syrian air space to bomb Syrian and allied forces - benefitting Isis ( the murderers and crucifiers of Christians). Russia has now taken control of the air there. Anyone trying to retake it will have to win a fight against Russia. Absent that, perhaps the best thing would be to do as Bibi did, meet with Putin, explain exactly our intentions if we are permitted, by agreement , to keep flying in Syrian air space, and work out anti- conflict procedures to avoid accidental hostilities. For all the bluster from Washington politicians , does it seem likely the western countries will take on the Russians now that they’ve seriously set up shop there. IMHO, no. Lots of talk, yes.

What the heck are we doing there? Why are we trying to depose the most moderate possible leader in the region? (Yeah, he’s evil, but not burn-innocents-alive-in-cages evil.)

Think Mubarack, Kadaffi, etc ...

You're right.

So, we’re agreed — Russia doesn’t belong there. Thanks for your support.

Note that painting another aircraft with radar is not considered hostile. However, “locking up” or going into fire control mode (typically high PRF) is considered a hostile act. Akin to someone pulling a gun on you, racking the action or pulling back the hammer, and putting their finger on the trigger. You do that to a fighter pilot, they are going to react. This could kick off over something as simple as a weapons system being in the wrong mode as a plane comes off target and happens to sweep it’s nose across an unfortunate patch of sky.

Russia has a history of significant trade with Syria, and keeps a fleet of ships at a port in Syria.
They have been more than patient with us.

Elected Obama twice!!!!

That says more about the GOPe and Mitt Romney than it says about the electorate - plus - on election night, no one looked more surprised than the Kenyan when Romney conceded before cocktail hour

Obama’s not got US troops in Syria, which is a good thing. In order to rationalize everything done by the dictator, thug, and murderer Putin, you and yours troll your way across FR broadcasting your straw man arguments.

So, we’re agreed — Russia doesn’t belong there.

Actually, we are in agreement, in theory. Russia no more belongs in Syria than the US belongs in Iraq.

The other side to that coin is this: Will the interference do more good, or more harm? That question cannot be ignored! But neither can it be used as an excuse for armed intervention everywhere, all the time.

One of the underlying stories is there are European oligarchs who wanted a pipeline thru the area from Saudi/Qatari gas fields to southern Europe. They didn`t like being on a Russian leash. Well screw them!

They`re bought and sold to the deep ecology movement. That`s why the CIA backed the overthrow of the then Ukrainian government, well IF they won`t frack for gas in Western Europe, then Western Europe can go back to living in thatched huts and riding horse drawn carts. P!ss on`em!

Because we don’t want our great leader to get us into a war with Russia we are accused of loving Putin. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Russian is not flying Mig-29s, and that is the jet said to have penetrated that airspace.

Besides, a Mig-29 flown by a Syrian or Russian would be easy meat for the F-22.

Russia has a history of significant interference, incursion, and invasion, such as what is still going on in Ukraine — events that you and yours always support, because you are Putin’s creatures. Russia also is the major enemy of the US, and as a result of gang leaders like Putin, supports every enemy of the US — that doesn’t make his supporters good Americans. Now run along and find one of Putin’s critics to kill with polonium or dioxin.

"NAT(O) planes and miss(l)es are better than the Russians.

Western avionics are better, but never underestimate a MIG. Throw in the US's convoluted rules of engagement, and you have the potential for accidental war.
